Thank you for your edits to the article. However, citing your own book as a source and as a valid reason for removing/altering sections of the article is not acceptable. The sources which brought you to the conclusions you arrived at in your book, are the ones which should be cited. I appreciate what you say but you will understand my dismay and annoyance to see my website (which merely lists the name of Frederick Augusta Barnard) quoted along with Miss Paintin apparently to support your statement that he was the son of Frederick, Prince of Wales, something that is very clearly rejected by Miss Paintin's article in the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography (as it was in her earlier articles) as well as by the greater detail of my book. I have today spent time in expanding and correcting the Wikipedia article with references to published material and to the other contemporary sources mentioned in my book, but find the page blocked. It is a deeply unsatisfactory state of affairs that incorrect and discredited material should be protected in this way. AnthonyCamp (talk) 19:04, 28 November 2008 (UTC).

I have removed the offending reference, but am still puzzled about the block you experienced, since the page history shows no such thing. Please try again. Wikipedia by its very nature will always be incomplete and flawed as it is created and maintained by flawed people. As you get to know the editors better, you will realise that they range in character from absolutely mindless swine to deeply intelligent and dedicated altruists. Date of Birth

Most of the available literature shows Barnard's birth as "1742", although one source (Twickenham Museum) lists it as 1743, possibly due to somebody calculating back from the statement in The Gentleman's Magazine that he was 87 when he died in 1830. However, if the September birth month is correct, then he would have been 87 at the time of his death if he was born in 1742 - which agrees with most of the literature, and with the most of the history of this wikipage (one or two editors have tried to insert the 1 September 1743 date in just the last year or so). I changed the text and infoboxes to be consistent, using 1742. Please do not change it back to 1743 UNLESS YOU HAVE A SOLID SOURCE. Thanks in advance. Raymondwinn (talk) 18:30, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
