She is creditted as being one of the few people who kept alive the bumblebee dance. In this traditional dance the parent bees wear traditional masks and they lead smaller and smaller children/bees into a circle. Eventually all the dancers retire to the hive but the smallest of the bees has been lost. The search continues and it not until the fourth search of the spectators that the child is found. The associated saying of the dance is "even though I am the last one I still count" is an important learning point. The masks were kept in the family but they were sold to museums. Willie's daughter, Charlene Dawson, is said to be one of the four keepers of this traditional dance.[1]Victuallers (talk) 18:19, 29 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
