Talk:Fita

The picture of Fita on the side looks wrong. All other Fita's I can find have a ~ in the middle of the O, not a straight line like it has in that picture. That should be either fixed or commented on. Fresheneesz 00:12, 27 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Fita in russian could be permutated either to т or ф. Examples: ѳеатр -> театр (theatre), маѳематика -> математика (mathematics). Real rule in 1918 reform is: write letter with the same sound produced.--80.92.251.250 11:33, 10 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Wouldn't teatr be an example of adopting a loanword from French over the equivalent loanword from Greek, or changing the transliteration system from th→ѳ to th→т? I don't know the specifics, it just seems that either of these foreign-influenced scenarios seems more likely than fita becoming te, especially considering that it was mostly used for foreign loan words. Є, not Э edit

Fita looked like circled Є in pre-1918 reform fonts. I have a photo of fita, yat and i, but don't know how to upload it (got puzzled with copyright). Dieſelmaus (talk) 17:42, 7 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
