Copyedit

edit

Regarding this revert of my previous copyedit of the article, I do not believe a wholesale revert was warranted. The edit summary asserts three issues with this copyedit: that it is garbled, that it cut out interwikies, and that it cut out the template.

On the second point, I don't see anything that affected the interwikies in any way whatsoever (unless you mean Smetannikov; see on that below).

On the first point, I don't really understand what is so "garbled" about the copyedit was—the existing content was unaffected; I merely moved some of it to the "History" section and corrected quite a few formatting blunders like following naming conventions for links to the articles about people (Smetannikov), removing the interwikies which do not belong (Smetannikov again), formatted the external links, removed the "see also" section consisting of only one item (which was already present in the text), categorized the article properly, and corrected (and referenced) the population data. If anything was "garbled", it was the original version, which had good content but horrid formatting inconsistent with formatting of every other article about Russian inhabited localities.

On the third point (the infobox) I would like to point out that previous discussions on and around WP:RUSSIA resulted in a consensus that {{Infobox Settlement}} is a poor choice for articles about Russian localities and that a Russia-specific box is to be designed down the road once the number and the quality of the articles about the Russian rural localities improves (an infobox for Russian cities/towns is is already in place, although it, too, is due for re-design). Considering the current length of the article, any kind of infobox at this point would simply overwhelm it and is completely superfluous.

With that in mind, I would much appreciate if no further wholesale reverts are made. If you have any concerns that I have not addressed (or have addressed not to your satisfaction), let's discuss them; I'll be more than happy to participate in a constructive dialog. Fine, sorry. For some reason I saw no interwikis (now I checked the history and they indeed were present; a glitch was probably due to a slow connection in the evening.. or my slow thinking in the same period) and no infobox and so reverted. Should have notified you first or written the note in this section.. Best regards. --CopperKettle 01:12, 27 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
No harm done. Thanks for creating this article in the first place, by the way. Russia is so horribly under-represented in the Engilsh Wikipedia that every little bit counts. Cheers,—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 01:24, June 27, 2009 (UTC)
