The Constitution doesn't say anything about the President appointing Senators. The original document (pre-17th Amendment) provided that the executive of each state should appoint senators in case there was a vacancy, but the appointment was only good till the end of the next legislative session for each particular state.134.126.230.214 (talk) 01:34, 23 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

The article makes the following claim: "Several American citizens are challenging the standards; they are fighting for a way to enable the United States to re-elect presidents when necessary – maybe after two years."

Who is advocating for this? There is no evidence that such a movement exists in the United States. If this is an idea held by just a few individuals, then name them (but in that case it may not be an idea with much political importance). The "maybe" is also doing a lot of work here.
