I don't use wikipedia much and I don't really know where to discuss so i'll do it here. Would it be a nice idea to add few of his best plays as an example (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPCfoCVCx3U)? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.215.217.154 (talk) 12:34, 15 October 2015 (UTC)

Faker (video gamer)Lee Sang-hyeok – He is well known as real name now. Kanghuitari (talk) 04:48, 15 January 2016 (UTC) Relisted. Jenks24 (talk) 06:32, 24 January 2016 (UTC)

  • Support more encyclopaedic. In ictu oculi (talk) 15:14, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
  • Strong oppose WP:NICKNAME, WP:STAGENAME, WP:RECOGNIZABLE if a person is more comminly known by name other than their real one, the article should be titled accordingly. So my understanding is that he is better known by his "real" name in Korea, but non the less most of the reliable sources I've found refer to him primarily as "Faker"--Prisencolin (talk) 18:16, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
I really think that this is not what WP:NICKNAME and WP:STAGENAME say nor were intended for. These are "handles" in a particular arena but their real names are also fully recorded in reliable sources. This is more like Oprah where we go for a full name where real full name is available and widely observable. (Closer please take this comment as applying to all 12 RMs without me needing to repaste on each one). We have the same problem with wrestlers of course, but these personas are not so much acting as wrestlers. In ictu oculi (talk) 07:38, 16 January 2016 (UTC)
I've made this argument elsewhere, but I still think that using a first "nickname" last format would work best for gamers. If that's undesirable to some, then just the nickname will do for recognizably and wp:commonname purposes.--Prisencolin (talk) 07:57, 20 January 2016 (UTC)
  • Oppose. This argument can be made with BoxeR that he's known by his real name now, but that isn't true with Faker. He's just Faker in the only community he has any encyclopedic relevance in. SnowFire (talk) 23:08, 19 January 2016 (UTC)

Infobox

This infobox is pathetic. It makes the page look like it was made by a 5 year old. Can someone make a more professional one? --Larcombe (talk) 08:43, 24 June 2016 (UTC)

I just want it to look more professional. Like an actual athlete's. Like how football and basketball infoboxes are done. But with its own little tweak. That's all. That's why I tested out with Template:Infobox lol biography because you cant have one type of infobox for a eSport in general. It a lot more complex than that. --Larcombe (talk) 08:08, 25 June 2016 (UTC)

Article title

The page is back at Faker (video gamer) per the latest WP:RMs that were held about this page (see above). I believe that anyone who thinks this page should be somewhere else would need to find an explicit consensus for a page move, and I don't see very well how that could be done without proposing an alternative name via WP:RM. --Francis Schonken (talk) 15:36, 28 June 2016 (UTC)

Avoiding bias

I wanted to suggest that make "He is best known for playing LeBlanc, Cassiopeia, Zed, Orianna, Ahri and Ryze" to "Faker has many best-known champions, but he keeps expanding his champion pool to allow himself succeed in different team compositions" because it is too biased to say what he is best known for since he has a deep champion pool. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Li410985725 (talkcontribs) 06:55, 21 February 2018 (UTC)

Faker (video gamer)Faker (League of Legends player) – proper parenthetical dab for articles about LoL players. To clearly illustrate my point, go to Category:League of Legends players Slightlymad 09:38, 6 April 2018 (UTC)

Moved from technical request. This has been discussed and moved back and forth previously, therefore not uncontroversial. –Ammarpad (talk) 11:16, 6 April 2018 (UTC)
  • Garam, you do realise that it's not the same merger proposal? Patience, Slightlymad 12:56, 7 April 2018 (UTC)
@Slightlymad: Of course. And I think you want to have equality between all League of Legends player articles #1, but there is no consensus. Thanks. --Garam (talk) 13:04, 7 April 2018 (UTC)
Garam, did you mean to Support or Oppose my proposal? Because to Keep or Delete an article is applicable to WP:AFD discussions only. Please clarify your verdict. Patience, Slightlymad 13:17, 7 April 2018 (UTC)
Sorry for the misunderstanding. It is "oppose". Thanks. --Garam (talk) 13:41, 7 April 2018 (UTC)
  • Oppose unless there are other notable video game players named Faker. Also oppose the alternate move to the given name; Faker is overwhelmingly referred to as simply Faker in all English-language media on the topic. We're talking like 99.8% to 0.2%. My understanding is that Korean media also uses "Faker" hugely as well. SnowFire (talk) 21:48, 10 April 2018 (UTC)

Medal section

There are several WP:MOS issues with the using the medal table.

  1. Achievements do not needed to be repeated three times in total (i.e. "career highlights", medals, tournament results) and twice within close proximity (i.e. The "career highlights" section or the medal table must be removed to comply with WP:MOS).
  2. The medal table is used for sports events that reward medals, usually international cups, not tournament results in general. The World Championship and MSI are not international cups because they do not field single national teams, but multiple league teams.
  3. Unlike the Olympics or FIFA, World Championships and MSI do not take place in a single host city. Labeling the 2015 World Championship as "2015 Berlin, Germany" for example, is misleading as only one series was played there; i.e. a majority of the event took place elsewhere.

Pictures

I feel like we should include more recent pictures of Faker as he looks quite different today than he did back then. Toddpak1 (talk) 03:01, 24 February 2020 (UTC)

@Toddpak1: If there are copyright free images of Faker out there, it would be a great help to the community if you added them. CentreLeftRight 18:59, 24 February 2020 (UTC)

Semi-protected edit request on 23 September 2020

The fact that Faker has 500 games is currently uncited, https://www.gamelife.com/league-of-legends/faker-hits-career-milestone-playing-500-lck-games/ mentions definitively at the bottom that he is the second as well as go over a few more accomplishments. Article is written by Jay Parenteau

The line in question is in the introduction, near the end. 21-jhk5 (talk) 02:01, 23 September 2020 (UTC)

@21-jhk5: Information in the lead that is repeated in the body paragraphs does not necessarily have to be cited, as long as it is cited in the body (see MOS:LEADCITE). That GameLife article is cited for that 500 games claim in the section "Season 9". All the best, CentreLeftRight 02:54, 23 September 2020 (UTC)

Change "Oriana" to "Orianna" in the sentence: He is the first to achieve the 600 game mark in the LCK. His 600th game was against NS RedForce, which he locked in Oriana and achieved a KDA of 2/0/6. "He is widely considered to be the best League of Legends player of all time."

Literally no one considers faker to be the best player of all time. Faker is the most dominant player of all time - the game has evolved considerably since he was the best, and he has not nearly kept up. The article cited is not a serious source and was written in 2017. 216.164.249.213 (talk) 18:23, 10 August 2022 (UTC)

  • "Nonetheless, SKT reached the LCK Summer Finals, but they were defeated by Longzhu Gaming." — Word should be substituted with an encyclopedic alternative
  • "Nonetheless, T1 topped their group stage and made it to the semifinals, before they were defeated by DWG KIA." — ditto

    Pass/fail:
Update: Hi Pbrks, I just finished reviewing the article against criteria 2, 3, and 4 and I've marked each as a pass. The article should be ready for GA once the remaining issues are addressed. Sorry to have kept you waiting, I've just been busy lately. Nineteen Ninety-Four guy (talk) 08:05, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
Since the nominator has not responded to my comments since the review began, I'm gonna have to take this as an indication that they are no longer interested in pursuing this nomination or have other things in their mind. The nomination is therefore a fail, for now. Nominator may take another shot at GAR at a later date. Until then, prose issues must be addressed. Nineteen Ninety-Four guy (talk) 07:25, 1 June 2023 (UTC)
@Nineteen Ninety-Four guy: Hello. I apologize for not responding sooner, I did not think that it warranted one until the article was fully assessed. I ask that you reopen this GAN, as it has only been two days since assessment. Thanks. – Pbrks (t • c) 14:30, 1 June 2023 (UTC)
@Pbrks: Nope. Five days later and you didn't even bother addressing relatively simple prose issues before asking me to reopen the GAR, this only proves your indifference to this nomination. On top of that, my preliminary notes began almost a month ago, and you were given ample time to address them in my absence; but alas, I came back later without a single comment back from you. Granted, I think it's only wise that I fail the nomination so that you can concentrate on other endeavors, and another reviewer should take up the mantle should you renominate. Nineteen Ninety-Four guy (talk) 07:20, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
@Nineteen Ninety-Four guy: You should not expect your review to be completed until you have completed your review. It’s hypocritical that you spent a week from accepting to a partial review, then took another 2 weeks to finish, and then expected a response in less than two days. I hope this isn’t how you handle other GANs. I agree, another user should take up any future nomination of this article. – Pbrks (t • c) 13:08, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
