First sentence

Having read the MOS regarding opening sentences, I cannot see why the repetitive form which I edited was superior to the one which I replaced it with.

I suggest the editor read the two sentences aloud for comparison. The improvement will become very clear.

FWIW, I could not see the element of the MOS where repetition of particular phrases in close frequency was specified, either explicitly or implicitly. Additionally, please see the article on the Northrop F-89 Scorpion for a first sentence which really does need some sorting out in the manner which the editor here would rather see, but for which same effort I was reprimanded by an editor for 'needless repetition'. There really does appear to be some inconsistency at play, which makes my job, as a reader who voluntarily resolves weaknesses in WP text, very difficult indeed.

I will certainly say that the restoration of the historical context - time and usage - is a fair compromise at least, so I do appreciate that. 2A00:23C7:3119:AD01:6C5D:CC5E:B60B:9D06 (talk) 17:02, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
