• zh:金山法海 says "取名为法海", which sounds to me like 法海 is a two-character given name rather than a surname plus a given name. If that's right it should be "Fahai" (which would also be consistent with the article Huineng). But others may know more than I do. —Granger (talk · contribs) 18:14, 22 October 2020 (UTC)
  • Agree: Mx. Granger's opinion is correct. In Chinese culture, the Buddhistic religious name does not have its own surname. It just has its own first name.--波斯波莉斯 (talk) 03:22, 23 October 2020 (UTC)
