ESP vs EXPRESS

What's there to compare? ELCs are mounting points for experiments, ESPs are storage for spare parts. Apart from the fact that both are installed on the outside of ISS, they don't really have anything in common. --Derlay 22:50, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

afaik, ELCs are precisely going to be essentially used to store ISS parts which are too bulky to be carried by any other spacecraft than the Space Shuttle, and that's precisely why a number of them will be installed during the last missions of the Shuttle.Hektor 08:09, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

I propose deleting the talk about ELC 5 due to the fact that it is conjecture, there is not any verifiable evidence that it is being considered in any official capacity, and also the fact that there are not enough payload attachment points on P3/S3 to accommodate both ELC-5 and AMS-02 if launched on STS-134. ESPs do not have any telemetry from the spares stored there. There is no C&DH on an ESP. The only commands are Remote Power Controller (RPC) commands to turn on heaters for the stowed items. ELCs WILL store spares (Orbital Replacement Units) as well. Those locations only have heater power. The two ExPA sites (payload sites) have operational power, heater power,and contingency heater power as well as a Payload MDM 1553 bus connection via the ExPCA. There is also the MRDL connection to the ExPCA that later gets converted to HRDL in the FCU.

Do not throw out ELC-5 just yet. ESP-3 may be moving to another location and not on the S3 PAS or P3 UCCAS site, either. Incorrect acronym?

Hi folks, was just looking at the article, and it occurs to me that I think we've got the acronym wrong; the full name, as we know, is Expedite the Processing of Experiments to the Space Station, and so I think we should be using a lowercase r, as well as a lowercase x, to produce ExPrESS - any thoughts?
