I'm all for merging the two together. How about taking the information from Erich Lowenhardt and removing what I wrote for Erich Löwenhardt, but keeping the image I added and adding some wikilinks?

That sounds fine. Geoff/Gsl 01:49, 25 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
Articles have been merged and original article has been redirected. I hope this is correct, let me know if it is not. --Geck0 09:05, 25 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

hi there! the correct spelling would be "Loewenhardt" neither lowenhardt nor Löwenhardt. I changed that several times but somehow it allways switches back to Löwenhardt.. why is that?

I think it is accepted Wikipedia practice to use original German spellings rather than English. Drutt (talk) 12:53, 21 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
The correkt writing of the name is Loewenhardt, also in german! Fyrfoss (talk) 17:59, 8 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please add the italian article Erich Löwenhardt--87.9.90.42 (talk) 13:28, 25 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Information Added

edit

I've added a bit about Loewenhardt's career with his Albatros DV, as well as a few other tidbits about his time spent with the Pfalz. My source was AcePilots, which is already cited at the bottom of the page.

Why no citations of sources?

edit

This article is totally without citations. By WP standards, it could be totally blanked as containing unsubstantiated information.

Loewenhardt vs Löwenhardt/Lowenhardt

edit

After my changes from Löwenhardt->Loewenhardt got reverted as sourceless: Check this historical photo or that Loewenhardtdamm near Werner-Voß-Damm (yes, its Voß not Voss), Boelckestraße (not Bölcke) and Manfred-von-Richthofen-Straße and try to find a place in Germany or in the world, thats named after a "Löwenhardt". You can also check von Richthofens autobiography, were he is describing Loewenhardts crash. Or just check the german wikipedia with all its links and listed books. I doubt that your unsourced aerodrome website would be accepted there as source. 93.128.187.53 (talk) 16:54, 13 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Unsourced info rescued from deletion:

The correct spelling of Erich's last name is Loewenhardt. Lowenhardt and Löwenhardt have been used but are both incorrect. This is a common mistake as "ö" is regularly translated to "oe" or "o" in English. Many make the assumption that a change in spelling during translation has occurred and inadvertently misspell the name while trying to undo the translation. It is of Dutch-German heritage. The general public during his life up to the current day are highly liable to make this mistake in written media due to these incorrect assumptions. Both his grave stone and the street in Berlin named after him (loewenhardtdamm) are spelt in this way.

Name change

edit

I have changed the names in the article to Loewenhardt but unable to change the overall article name. Sourced https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/144354106/erich-loewenhardt as it shows his grave stone and correct spelling. The name is commonly misspelled as it is of Dutch-german heritage. The oe is not interchangeable with the usual ö (as it usually is going between english and german). Dragnova (talk) 10:01, 22 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
