When you say "unsourced BLP" .. the Weather Report page has sources, as does the McCoy Tyner page. I wish people were as quick to try to dig up a source as to propose deletion. dfrankow (talk) 19:29, 23 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

And when you say "no indication of individual notability" .. how many world-class musicians does one have to play with before one is individually notable? dfrankow (talk) 19:32, 23 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

You have to be notable in and of yourself. Notability isn't contagious. Just playing with people that are notable doesn't make you notable. Travelbird (talk) 21:27, 23 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
I see. After reading more, it looks like notability is in terms of verifiable mainstream media sources. dfrankow (talk) 00:54, 24 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Further evidence of notability:

Wayne Shorter on Gravatt[1]:

Eric was the one. Miles wanted him, but he came with us in Weather Report.

Terry Bozzio on Gravatt[1]:

The first time I saw Eric play was at the Keystone Corner in San Francisco, and seeing him play changed my life. There isn't — and maybe never will be — anyone who plays drums with that much intensity.

Josef Zawinul on Gravatt[2] (see Weather Report)[3]:

From the jazz side, Eric Gravatt was my favorite of them all.

From "jazz police":[4]

A "truly international figure of jazz"

A profile in the "African American Registry".[5]
