Bishops' succession edit

Whether to count missionary bishops in the diocesan succession is fraught with difficulty. Many dioceses count them; Montana is one. Brookhart is listed as the ninth bishop in numerous places, including the diocesan Web site, which means Tuttle has to be counted as first, even if he was just a missionary bishop. You counted Keyser as eighth, using the Red Book as reference, but he is not listed there and he is not the eighth bishop of Montana. He was assisting only, appointed by the presiding bishop, not elected. Wikipedia won't let us divide a numbered list with subheads, so I set it up the way I did. Hope it makes sense, but if you look at other dioceses, you'll see there's some consistency this way. ~ InkQuill 18:15, 8 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your help in straightening this out. Keyser is in the 2004 Episcopal Church Annual that I have. It's not the first error I've seen. I see that his bio in the Clerical Directory says he was assisting in Montana. Thanks again. clariosophic (talk) 19:02, 8 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
