Untitled

While keeping all the text existing before 3.12.2009, in "Ecological governance", I've:

• a) merged it with a new longer article, placing each paragraph between different parts of the new structure in order to keep a coherence
• b) removed the notes of notability, refimprove and cleanup, because I believe that now it is not concerned by these remarks anymore
• c) the new content, which is much larger than the old one, refers to Environmental governance, and this entry (Environmental governance) redirected to Ecological governance. So I've moved all the content (the merged old and new parts) to the article Environmental governance (this one) and I've redirected Ecological governance to here, and finally,
• d) In the old parts, I've changed the expression "ecological governance" (9 times) into "environmental governance")

I am open to discussion. Thanks for your understanding

Hello Germa.Pelayo, I am an editor and have been working quite a bit on governance articles here. It seems to me you have made the right move. In fact, "environmental governance" is a much more widely accepted term. The only real reference I can find, today, for "ecological governance" dates back to 2007, the Paris Conference for Global Ecological Governance, but even in the articles mentioning this conference, the term used in the discussion is "environmental governance". So I confirm, you seem to have made the right move. This article may still need a little post-editing strictly for language flow. Vedah Eulalia (talk) 17:33, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

Very long article

Hello, an interesting but very long article! Have any of the editors/ contributors working on this considered spinning off other smaller articles from it? DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 10:53, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

Copyedit

Per tag, edited this. Feedback encouraged. Comments:

• Yes, way too long. Shorter now! About half as long.
• Chock full of unsourced claims. Rather than request cites for each item, proably better to strip it down to what is supported and start over. I have not done that.
• Removed a bunch of unanswered questions.
• Much of it is a polemic for global government, which is nothing if not unencyclopedic.
• Attempted to palliate the overwrought tone.
• One source was unpublished. This violates WP:RS. I removed all refs.
• Replaced ibids with named refs.
• Relies to much on Alliance 21 stuff. I didn't remove it.
• Needs section on fisheries!
• This could use another complete pass that would further reduce it.

OK, that's it. My pity for people who have to write like this and/or read it is infinite. Lfstevens (talk) 01:52, 15 September 2013 (UTC)

It would be good to focus on References which are accessible online. Right now it reads good (so far) but without proper References not really verifiable. prokaryotes (talk) 12:32, 16 April 2014 (UTC)

Normative vs. Positive

This environmental governance definition does only cover the normative approach and neglects its positive (or descriptive) approach, i.e. governance understood as how something is governed independently of its goals. GEO 423 Evaluation

GEO 423 Student Evaluation of an Article. Hello, my name is Claire and I have some suggestions for this article that I would like to share. I think that some of the content needs to be updated, especially since environmental conditions are ever-changing. I would also suggest that some sections be made more concise as it is very lengthy and a daunting read. We also must make sure that all information is properly cited and relevant to the article. I noticed a few paragraphs with none or few citations. I also feel that Indigenous communities could be better represented in the local governance section. For example, a community in Hā'ena, Kaua'i has recently shown the benefits to the land and the community of local governance and policies with the environment at the forefront. This example can be read about in Mehana Vaughanʻs book Kaiāulu: Gathering Tides. I look forward to collaborating to improve this article!
