"Switzerland"

edit

I have edited the text so that it no longer says the mountains are called "Saxon Switzerland". They are not. They are called "Sächsische|Böhmische Schweiz" in German, but that does not mean they have a similar name in English! Wegesrand (talk) 07:13, 2 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I don't think this so clear. More importantly, both the Saxon Switzerland and the Bohemian Switzerland have their own articles on WP, if you don't like those names you might want to start with renaming them before unlinking relevant information here. Btw. it's not only on the German side that this area is called Switzerland. Yaan (talk) 14:15, 4 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
All German or Czech uses of Schweiz or Svyc... whatever do not help the fact that the English names with "Switzerland" are bloody ridiculous and to be avoided. See my comment on the talk page of Saxon Switzerland. Here I would just like to note that the reference in this article for "Saxon Switzerland" is to a book in English, but by a Czech author, a Czech editor and a German publisher! — Wegesrand (talk) 12:51, 20 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
If you want to achieve change, you need to stop ranting and swearing and explain the logic for you point of view. However, there are plenty of English sources that use the word "Switzerland", indeed there is an entire article (Little Switzerland) that explains this and indicates the use of the word in English since the 1820s.
