Talk:Am Whalen

I understand that there are many people out there who are passionate about ice hockey. However, I've seen far too many hockey biographies as of late which aren't exactly biographies. They're more like a compendium of names and teams as found in various databases, cranked out onto Wikipedia like one would produce sausage. Considering that this article states that Whalen's professional playing career occurred almost a century ago, how did anyone reasonably conclude that he's a living person? That would make him at least 115–120 years old, which means that we would have already noticed him for that reason rather than for being a hockey player. I didn't change that, as I shouldn't have to clean up everyone's messes for them. RadioKAOS / Talk to me, Billy / Transmissions 10:07, 17 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

There's also the matter of the article title. This article was originally titled Ed Whalen (ice hockey player) and moved to its present title by User:Marc87. While Ed Whalen was not a player, he was the play-by-play voice of the Calgary Flames for approximately the first two decades of the team's existence. One could argue that he has a far stronger connection to ice hockey than this Ed Whalen ("Hello hockey fans", anyone?), and therefore the original article title is more appropriate.
