Are links really needed for each one of the casinos? Professor water 15:07, 2 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

I don't think it is appropriate to have the bottom section which criticizes corporations and the wealthy for not donating to charities. I am going to take action and delete it.

Resource -- Impact on Housing Market

Housing Market--Hurricane Katrina | Source: National Association of Home Builders

NAHB Releases Study On Impact Of Katrina

"The full extent of the impact of Hurricane Katrina on the overall economy and on the housing market is still unclear, and the immediate focus is properly on human life and health, but the number of homes destroyed by this catastrophe is almost certain to dwarf the losses from any previous U.S. natural disaster. Past experience, together with the visible devastation, provides some basis for projecting the effects on construction activity, the supply and cost of building materials and construction labor, and other implications for the housing market."

Proposed merger of effects.

Given their closeness in time and location, it strikes me that it will soon become difficult to separate the respective economic, political, and social effects of Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita. How would my fellow editors feel about moving the articles covering these aspects to Economic effects of the 2005 Atlantic hurricane season, Political effects of the 2005 Atlantic hurricane season, and Social effects of the 2005 Atlantic hurricane season? -- BD2412 talk 00:10, 22 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Cleanup

edit

The article has been cleaned up, a few dead links have been removed, and I paraphrased the section on economic effects in the main Hurricane Katrina article as well. Dr. Cash 23:40, 1 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Agreed, the article is now in much better shape. Great job! Titoxd(?!? - help us) 21:29, 3 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

COmment by someone else Need to discuss the impact on insurance and reinsurance! Insurance companies paid out $ billions, some of which was reimbursed by the reinsurers. Reinsurers raised their prices, restricted capacity, so insurance companies couldn't risk writing as much insurance in hurricane-prone areas.
