I am in process of developing this article. It needs to describe how East Bowling relates to the historic town ship and manor of Bowling, which became a ward of the newly created municipal Borough of Bradford in 1847. The terms Great Bowling and Little Bowling had traditionally been used to differentiate the eastern and western areas of settlement. In 1882 the wards of the municipal borough were re-organised to reflect population growth. Bowling ward was split into East and West Bowling wards. The boundary was along the line of the LYY railway which closely follows the old geographic marker of Bowling Beck. This is also the boundary between Bradford 4 and 5 postal districts. area

The original introduction to this article did not accurately define the boundaries and only included about half of the area. It defined Wakefield road as the east boundary, - Wakefield Road was actually the "spine" of East Bowling. I will redefine and add a boundary map. Citations will follow as the article develops.
