editThe Funk Brothers deserves so much recognition as already stated for helping and being directly responsible for defining the Motown sound fo the 60's and early seventies. They and thbeir families should be compensated for what these fantastic musicians have contributed. It is a tremendous oversight to just focus on the artists who in their own right were great and did receive all the recognition and more money than the Funk Brothers. All anyone has to do is listen to the music behind those oldies but goodies and they would begin to understand the impact, the musicianship and the sound that made it possible for the artists to do what they did. It is really sad and heart breaking to hear that some of the Funk Brothers has since passed on without getting the recognition and then to hear the story of James Jamison having having to scalp a ticket outside the theater for Motown 25 is just not right. Berry Gordy should have given more acknowledgement and money to the band that made him so much money...so while everyone is giving so much praise to Berry Gordy who by the way had a special ceremony some years ago to celebrate his achievements and did not mention NOT one aspect of what the musicians had done for Motown...he should be ashamed and held directly responsible for the short comings that The Funk Brothers under went...businessman or no businessman he owes them.
Category: P-Funk Musicians?
editI doubt that Earl ever played with Parliament or Funkadelic. He was a session musician on the original recordings by the Parliaments, so it's a bit of a stretch to say he was actually a member of P-Funk, so I'm removing that category. Feel free to restore if I'm mistaken. --Drumsac 13:10, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
- The category includes everybody who ever played with P-Funk, and he played on the first, self-titled Funkadelic album, Funkadelic. See that article and here. I think the category is poorly named, but it was named in accordance with Wiki policy (see Category:Musicians by band). — Malik Shabazz (Talk | contribs) 18:35, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
