Merge

edit

Hello all, I have posted on the RAF Duxford page about a possible merge between that page and this one. I'd like to hear other peoples opinions. Mumby 18:49, 23 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Aerial View

edit

Hi again, is there anyway of putting the aerial view of the aerodrome in 1946 into the infobox? Try as I might I cannot figure out how to do it. RegardsMumby 17:35, 24 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

I've done it but you can't have a caption in the infobox so it misses the 1946 info. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 18:55, 24 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Great, I think that looks better. The info is still there when you click on the image so no harm done. Mumby 21:07, 24 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

I have just added archive links to 3 external links on Duxford Aerodrome. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

Royal Air Force Police

edit

During the period 1953-55 I served as a corporal in No. 4 District, RAF Police. We were the HQ of RAF Provost Branch for the whole of East Anglia. Our mobile and foot patrols served in Cambridge, Norwich, Ipswich, Hornchurch, Chelmsford, Bury St. Edwards, Dereham, Great Yarmouth and Epping forest area.

On patrol in Cambridge, I and my partner Ron Rooke, arrested three soldiers in civilian clothes, in the middle of Cambridge Bus Station, at 10:30 pm on a Saturday evening. The soldiers, from Royston barracks, had been beating up civilians. After some hours which they spent in the Cambridge police station, we returned the soldiers to Royston, where we discovered that they were listed as AWOL! Two of them were given detention time by the Commanding Officer. The third was tried by Court Martial and convicted of "Causing Grevious Bodily Harm"

The Criminal Investigation Section of No. 4 District initiated criminal investigations of RAF personnel at Ely Hospital, into homosexual activity, which was, at that time, a criminal offence. This led, eventually, to the trials, in Hampshire, of Lord Montague and others. At that time, these were very prominent events. 2600:8806:2300:105:FD36:4BAD:442D:7F59 (talk) 17:55, 14 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
