I'm not sure I understand the second half of this sentence which appears in the "Episode two Evacuation section, para 2: "With a large percentage of the British fleet tied up in the rescue operation, Churchill orders the gassing [my emphasis] of Britain’s south coast to ward off invasion".
Huh? I think this sentence might be to do with the approaches to beaches being covered by large expanses of petrol (gasoline) in a last-ditch attempt to thwart German invasion plans.
I've also exchanged 'entire' for 'a large percentage of' - (I don't remember hearing of battleships and cruisers from Scapa Flow being involved in the evacuation; nor the Mediterranean and Far East being similarly de-nuded, so to say 'entire' is quite obviously complete bol nonsense), even if it was mentioned in the programme.
