1996–97 query and suggestion for rewording edit

I have a query about the statement "Players to leave included Scottish Cup winners Craig Brewster, Christian Dailly, David Hannah and Brian Welsh, bringing in over £1.25m in revenue." My memory is Brewster, Dailly and Welsh all left before the start of the season, not renewing their contracts and becoming the first United players to make use of the Bosman decision. Dailly went to Derby and due to the rules of the time that meant United got compensation. I think this also applied to Brian Welsh, who went to Hibs, however it did not apply to Craig Brewster who went to a Greek side meaning United were not entitled to any transfer fee, so his departure brought nothing to the £1.25 million figure - thus I wonder if this needs reworded. Also David Hannah left during the season (after a long contract dispute) and unlike the others mentioned was sold after a transfer bid was accepted, so I am not sure it is helpful to group him in with the rest. Therefore I wonder it would be better to say "Players to leave included Scottish Cup winners Craig Brewster, Christian Dailly, and Brian Welsh, who left under freedom of contract before the start of the season, and David Hannah who was sold during the season."?
