editI have created this article today, and shall be expanding it and adding comprehensive footnotes to it shortly. As with the companion article Dioceses of the Church of the East to 1318, I intend to generate a number of subsidiary articles dealing with each of the major metropolitan provinces and listing all known bishops.
I also intend to write a similar, though perhaps shorter, article on the dioceses of the Syrian Catholic Church in due course.
I have added a map showing historical localities with pre-Islamic traditional borders. Unfortunately most towns in modern Turkey are missing here. The reason is that 1) Names have been heavily Turkified and are now unrecognisable in modern maps. 2) Medieval Arabic sources don't say much about those places since they lay outside the Islamic states.--Rafy talk 01:24, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
Only historical dioceses?
editThere is need to add info about current dioceses of Syriac Church. Warszawiak22 (talk) 09:56, 15 December 2018 (UTC)
