Yes, it turns they are one and the same. According to this book (p. 310) one "Guillaume Tignonville" is understood to be the same person who is otherwise called Jean de Teonville, provost of Paris in 1408. In this book (p. 241) it points out the Sayings of the Philosophers was translated from Latin by "Guillaume de Tignoville", who was provost of Paris in 1408. In this book (p. 62) it points out the Dictes and Sayings of the Philosophers was also translated out of Latin into French by a worshipful man called MONSIEUR JEHAN de TEONVILLE, who by others was called "Guillaume de Tignoville", or Thignoville - the Provost of Paris in the year 1408. It was just a hunch. Since the modern spelling of the place is Thionville, "Jehan or Guillaume de Thionville" might be the best reference to this person.--Wetman (talk) 18:55, 15 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
