Not a very sturdy bio...
editThis reads more like promotional materials than an actual biography. I don't know that a normal encyclopedia would state that JS Bach remained "energetic". Nevermind that the time line is all skewed. KISS' "Dynasty" came out in the late 70's. The article then states that Paul Stanley handed Desmond's name over to Jon Bon Jovi. Okay, considering the debut Bon Jovi album didn't come out until 1984 or 1985, and considering that "Slippery When Wet" didn't come out until 1986 or 1987, it seems unlikely that Paul handed anything over to JBJ in such short succession.
The placement of the Aerosmith collaboration is curious as well. The article is written as if it came after the Bon Jovi collaboration. If I'm not mistaken, they happened at least concurrently, if not Aerosmith occuring first.
I personally don't care enough to change it. Maybe someone else does. This is just not a good example of what you want wikipedia to be, I think. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.146.181.154 (talk) 20:05, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
Why doesn't it mention his homosexuality? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.161.118.163 (talk) 14:54, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
An invitation for misuse...
editI agree, this is not an appropriate page. It is filled with self-serving promotional stuff. It's an invitation for misuse of Wikipedia as career advancement. (As it happens, I once went to the article about me to correct something, and it felt creepy.) Josephbyrd (talk) 06:50, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

Agree this is not a well-done article, but how is it a "misuse of Wikipedia as career advancement" when the subject already has won several Grammys? A.T.S. in Texas (talk) 03:41, 3 December 2012 (UTC)
If it quacks like a duck ...
editThe reason this reads as 'self-serving promotional stuff' is because it is. Much of the content of this Wikipedia entry is plagiarised wholesale from Desmond Child's own website, itself linked at the bottom of the webpage. Not objective then, and probably in contravention of copyright to boot. Furry Canary (talk) 18:59, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

Associated Act: Selena?
editSelena is listed as an "Associated Act". I think this was meant to be "Selena Gomez" and not "Selena" who is an entirely different singer. Before I change it, just wanted to see if there was a connection between Desmond and Selena that I don't know about? BugSwat (talk) 00:47, 5 March 2017 (UTC)

Ambiguous line
edit- The song "A Ray of Hope", written by Don Paul Yowell, was recorded by Child as a tribute to his younger brother, Joey, who died in January 1991 of AIDS-related complications.
I can't tell if it means Joey was Don's brother or Desmond's brother. --177.207.54.6 (talk) 21:11, 26 February 2020 (UTC)
