Marlow - Marlowe edit

Those interested in researching this unfairly neglected author should also search for "Derek Marlow" (no "e"). Several articles and non-fiction books misspell his name. - Fantr (talk) 21:46, 11 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Dandy in Aspic is spoiled on this page edit

Consider not spoiling the casual reader of this page how Dandy in Aspic ends! Use vaguer language that spells out that the U.S. publishers favored a more upbeat approach.

Miscellaneous works - original research edit

The United States Copyright Office lists several unfilmed Marlowe screenplays.

  • Harlean, registered in 1996, 111 pages. "Mean Street Productions, Inc." appears to be the production company.
  • The Man Who Disappeared, registered in 1978; written by Marlowe and Jean Paul Rappeneau. United Artists and "Films Ariane, S.A." are the production companies.

Michigan State University Libraries has a copy of Redneck: a 150 page unfilmed screenplay. Original story and screenplay by Derek Marlowe, based on an idea by Derek Marlowe and Nicholas Ball, presumably the actor. - Fantr (talk) 23:38, 8 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Screen appearances? edit

The British Film Institute claims that an actor named Derek Marlowe played the role of Albert in the episode "Always Something Hot" (1962) of the anthology series Armchair Theatre. link. The IMDB does not include the character in their listings. - Fantr (talk) 00:31, 9 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

That's credible. Derek was on friendly terms with Philip Saville. El Ingles (talk) 14:03, 9 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

A good basic article but got his parentage wrong -- he is the parent of one son, Ben Marlowe.

There is online a copy of A Walk Through Derek Marlowe's London, by one of his publishers. Might be good to add. http://www.londonbooks.co.uk/shop/page.php?xPage=articles.html&articleID=5

Also he used to say he'd lived with Tom Stoppard at University or maybe later. That needs confirming, though.
