There are certainly stronger criticisms of libertarianism than those presented here. It might be useful to cite specific examples. For instance, consequentialist Libertarians could have argued all day long and would never have taken the steps necessary to end slavery in the US. Libertarian perspectives

There now exist dozens of articles of the type "Libertarian perspectives on ..." I believe they are way too narrow topics for an encyclopedia. (We don't have articles like "Liberal perspectives on ..." or "Conservative perspectives on ...")

Among them, Tisane (talk · contribs) has recently created a number of stub pages; the articles usually amount to "Libertarian oppose X" or "Libertarians oppose the regulation of Y". Among exceptions are Libertarian perspectives on religion - but then it seems that libertarians make much the same arguments for and against religion as anybody else.

I suggest merging anything useful in these articles into main topics and/or Libertarianism, or - if there's nothing useful to merge - nominating them for deletion.

Any particular reason for this proposed purge? Why not aspire to greater depth of coverage in comparable philosophies and debates? This material is far from controversial, and very, very, well trodden in secondary sources within both academia and political media. Skomorokh 16:40, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

Well, for example Libertarian perspectives on conspiracy theories is a way too narrow topic. As I had said, other articles could be summarized as, for example, "Libertarians oppose gun control"; I don't see any potential for expansion. For yet other topics, there's nothing special about libertarian positions; some libertarians support say, the death penalty, some oppose it; so do non-libertarians. - Mike Rosoft (talk) 16:48, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

The impression you are giving is that this is content that you don't find interesting or remarkable; that's fine, but it by no means follows that your experience of the material will hold true for other readers or that the encyclopaedia would benefit from its deletion. The only relevant concerns are whether we can cover these topicsin a way that verifiable, neutral, and in keeping with our mission. I'm far from convinced that we cannot. There's certainly a case to be made for merging many of these together, as has happened with the similar Issues in anarchism for instance, but that is a separate question from whether the topics themselves are worth covering in the first instance. Skomorokh 17:18, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

Libertarians on capital punishment versus abortion

This article makes it sound like most libertarians support capital punishment and support abortion rights. Is this really the case? I guess there are probably no polls about this but it seems like most oppose capital punishment but support abortion rights. Just wondering if somebody else has a sense about this. –Cwenger (talk) 18:14, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

No debate stated on LGBT Rights

There's a section on LGBT Rights in the list of debated topics, but that section does not actually note any debate on the topic of LGBT rights. To my knowledge there is none. Libertarianism as known throughout world not included?

I can't help but notice that this article only includes the debates in the American right-libertarian camp. Shouldn't there be sections for the original libertarians who are the most throughout the world? (anarchism/libertarian socialism)
