The article contradicts itself. One sentence says that there has never been a dropout, and the next says that only half of the entering class graduates. I'm not sure exactly what the writer was trying to say, so I will change it for now.

Most of the students that leave HP do not "dropout" of school, but rather change to a different high school. So, although only half of the students stay at DeBakey, there are very few that are actually leave school for good. I don't think HISD counts these student transfers as dropouts. Assessment

edit

Houston WP assessed this as a B-Class article. I think its start class. There is no references, which i would consider essential for a B class article. The article isnt even nearly complete, which it should be. So start it is. Low importance, little notability. Twenty Years 02:54, 2 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I was one of the original forty five student chosen for this pilot program. We were a model racially of the make up percentages of HISD at that time. All classes were held at Baylor College of Medicine with Perry Weston as principal. This first year of study was amazing and completely unlike any other school that had ever existed. We had visitors from Japan and national news coverage related to the newness of this school concept. Of the forty five originals, we lost 12 and picked up 2, yielding a 35 student graduating class. For those interested, it was the sociocultural aspects that were of most import. Tha`at is the area that my book will illuminate. It has yet to be revised, but I am seeking those of interest re feedback on what I have written as of now.
