Clean-up indeed. That abstract is bizarre. I can't really tell what's a quotation and what's not -- is the part that calls the Confucian teachings "hypocritical and shameless" actually the editor's comment?

I agree with the previous poster, this article is messy. A full re-write is needed. Filippo Argenti 01:15, 8 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Full translation wanted edit

The article is ok, but somewhat misleading. Full translation of Datsu-A Ron is wanted.

The abstract is missing some important lines. He praises western civilization, but "westerners are the same human beings(nothing more nothing less)" etc.

Datsu-A Ron was written 120 years ago, but what he said in Datsu-A Ron still valid today. I hope someone translate the full text to English. This is very a good one.

Move? edit

I feel like this ought to be renamed "Leaving Asia", the common English title. What does everyone think? Patrick Schwemmer 06:26, 16 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi everyone, I am the creator of this article in 2005. Thank you for editing in these years.

The author of Datsu-A Ron did regard Confucianism as "hypocritical and shameless". Please refer to this part of the original text: この文明日新の活劇場に教育の事を論ずれば儒教主義と云い、学校の教旨は仁義礼智と称し、一より十に至るまで外見の虚飾のみを事として、その実際に於ては真理原則の知見なきのみか、道徳さえ地を払うて残刻(ざんこく)不廉恥(ふれんち)を極め、なお傲然(ごうぜん)として自省の念なき者の如(ごと)し。

I agree that this article should be renamed "Leaving Asia". —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pourfemme (talkcontribs) 10:08, 20 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
