Proposed changes edit

Hello, GiantSnowman, Daniel Itodo's government name is Daniel James, as it appears on the website of CAF (Confederation of African Football)[1]. Ideally, his name should appear this way: Daniel "Itodo" James. But a lot of Nigerian websites write it as: Daniel Itodo [2] or Daniel James Itodo (which is slightly inaccurate by normal naming standards), it is also contrary to how the name is spelled on the NPFL database (Daniel Itodo James). The player's date of birth, according to CAF & NPFL, the most reliable sources for African footballers and Nigerian league players is stated as: 14th of December 1996 - the source in the Wikipedia article (which is not as credible as CAF) stated it as 27th December 1991. His height is 171cm according to CAF, the governing body of African football. His club is Plateau United F.C. and he wears jersey number 3. Also, Itodo has played for the Nigerian National team (we call them homebased eagles here), is name on the official call-up list is Daniel James, not Daniel Itodo [3]. I recommend that the name be reordered as Daniel "Itodo" James and the date of birth, height and the jersey number be corrected. Thank you so much. PS: In Nigeria, data, especially name are always listed in a confusing way - one person can bear a name that appears different in different certificates. Also, Plateau United F.C. do not have an official website, as it is with even the smallest club in the West. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nauteeq (talkcontribs) 13:46, 19 July 2018 (UTC) Nauteeq (talk) 13:48, 19 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Nauteeq: thanks for posting. In relation to your claim that his true name is 'Daniel James', do you have any sources which confirm that? His WP:COMMONNAME at the very least looks to be 'Daniel Itodo', that's what most sources use. I know you probably think it is obvious that they are the same person, but Wikipedia relies on reliable sources to verify information. This is especially important about living people. Thanks, @GiantSnowman:, Confederation of African Football (CAF) is the source. They have it on their website. I believe Wikipedia regard CAF as a reliable source, seeing as they are the sole body in charge of football governance in Africa. Please, check this link, you will find the player's photograph other details confirming his identity there. [1] also, I can attach the screenshot of the page so you'd confirm the identity.

You misunderstand - I am fully aware that CAF talk about a player called 'Daniel James'. Where is the evidence that he is the same person as 'Daniel Itodo'? GiantSnowman 14:46, 19 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

I have written to the club & player's representatives about this issue. I would declare as a paid editor as soon as I hear back from them and also, I would ask them to provide documents that could prove 'Daniel James' as 'Daniel Itodo' so that the issue is addressed. Thanks, GiantSnowman. Nauteeq (talk) 01:23, 20 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Update edit

Hello, I found this article about Daniel Itodo where his age was stated as 21-year old. It was published in Jamuary 2018 during the CAF CHAN competition. It could help clarify the age error in the article. [1] Nauteeq (talk) 10:56, 21 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
