Cueva del Indio (Arecibo)Cueva del Indio (Arecibo, Puerto Rico) – Per WP:USPLACE, the article name for the municipality is Arecibo, Puerto Rico and the parenthetical disambiguation should follow. While the shorter name would be clear to readers coming in from other Puerto Rican topics, it would be less obvious for readers interested in caves. • Note I opened a related but separate RM to rename Cueva del Indio to Cueva del Indio (Las Piedras, Puerto Rico). Your input (pro/con/other) is welcome right here. - RevelationDirect (talk) 02:00, 21 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose per WP:CONCISE and WP:OVERPRECISION. WP:USPLACE applies only to articles about the places themselves, not necessarily to disambiguators used for articles not about populated places. In this case it is especially unnecessary as the other Cueva del Indio is also in Puerto Rico. That other article, if it needs to be moved at all, should go to Cueva del Indio (Las Piedras). The longer titles could be redirects. Station1 (talk) 20:14, 21 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose per Station1. Completely unnecessary. If the nom's logic was followed, then every cave (or other feature) should also include its territory as well as its specific location. But that's not generally what we do. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:19, 22 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
My perception is that we generally do do that though to comply with WP:PLACEDAB, like with Red Mountain#United States which generally follows a "(County, State)" format. - RevelationDirect (talk) 11:55, 24 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
But notice the first one that is disambiguated by city rather than county. Alabama is not mentioned, yet Birmingham on Wikipedia refers to the city in England. I think possibly American counties are a different case (although I'm not convinced they should be), as they are generally pretty obscure. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:07, 24 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
