Something I noticed in this publication is that one of their proposed models for the origin of the Line Islands is a hotspot at 27°S 116°W / 27°S 116°W / -27; -116 with a width of about 150 kilometres (93 mi). They assume that it must be extinct due to a lack of volcanoes in that area ... but according to this source used here a Crough hotspot may be located at 26°54′S 114°36′W / 26.9°S 114.6°W / -26.9; -114.6 and may have formed the Crough Seamount.
