Was the history really that smooth?
editI am a bit surprised of the seeming smoothness in just renaming the Yugoslavian academy to the Croatian academy in 1991. As far as I understand, this must logically mean one of the following three things:
1. Even when Croatia was a part of Yugoslavia, there were no members in "The Yugoslavian Academy of Sciences and Arts" from any other part of Yugoslavia than Croatia.
2. There were members from other parts of Yugoslavia. These members remained members of the Croatian Academy of Arts and Sciences, which therefore has a number of members from the other parts of the former Yugoslavia.
3. There were members in "The Yugoslavian Academy of Sciences and Arts" from other parts of Yugoslavia. At some time, before or in or after 1991, they ceased to be members. This was due to something; they were expelled; or they just left; or the academy was peacefully split into several parts; or part of the academy was retained under the name "The Yugoslavian Academy of Sciences and Arts" (in Serbia and Montenegro, which for a while continued to constitute a union named Yugoslavia); or there was another reason. (I don't think that suddenly all of the non-croatian members just happened to die; I would have heard something about this.)
Now, I really do not know anything about what happened; but one of these three scenarios must be correct (or possibly a mixture of them). In either one of these cases, the information should be present in an encyclopedian article covering the entire time of existence of the academy. JoergenB (talk) 16:40, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
- It's more like 2). It was Croatian academy in all but name (an error that was fixed after the collapse of Communist Yugoslavia). There were/are also Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts etc. --Ivan Štambuk (talk) 17:52, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
