Contested deletion edit

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance.

There are a handful of articles written by the San Diego Union and the Evening Tribune that describe the historical significance of the Cramer Bakery in San Diego. There is only two references included in the wikipedia article because the newspaper archives are not public. I am not sure what to do about references that I cannot directly link to, such as:

  • Jan 29, 1923- Article on "San Diego's Leading Bread Smokestack" (Evening Tribune)
  • August 23, 1924- article about bread price increases (San Diego Union)
  • February 28, 1927- short article on the building permit to expand the bakery (San Diego Union)
  • October 24, 1931- photo of 7000 San Diegans who attended the bakery's 40th anniversary party (San Diego Union)
  • May 13, 1928 - article about a meeting with LA American Society of Baking Engineers (San Diego Union)
  • June 30, 1935 - photo of the purchase of a fleet of Ford V-8 trucks (San Diego Union)
  • July 19, 1935 - article about the quality of ingredients, with a photo of the giant mixer used in the bakery (San Diego Union)
  • Dec 6, 1938- article with reference to the first all automobile delivery in San Diego (San Diego Union)
  • Dec 30, 1939 - article on pay increase announcement for employees (San Diego Union)

Cramer's bakery was the only bakery in continuous operation during the early 20th century for the growing city of San Diego (as reported by the San Diego Union in the 1923 article mentioned above). It's historical impact can be seen in its role as the backdrop for many social and cultural events (e.g. Evening Tribune article: Oct 22, 1928, "Halloween affair being given for Kappa Delta Pis") as well as the sponsor of a semipro baseball team on which Ted Williams played. See the book: Baseball Life, page 11. A photo of the bakery from 1935 can be found at the site San Diego History Center.

Additional references can be added to this article if it will help with the claim of asserted importance. Please advise on what to do in the case of the references not being publicly available to be linked to the article.

Multiple issues tagging edit

I removed some tags which seemed inappropriate but another editor has put them back. They were about four issues:

  1. Proposed deletion. This may not be replaced but it may be worth noting that its use was improper as, per WP:PROD, this is only for "uncontroversial deletion ... must only be used if no opposition is to be expected."
  2. Orphan status. This should not be placed as a banner tag on the article because there is absolutely nothing which can be done to the article to change this. Because of this such tagging has been deprecated.
  3. Notability. This has now been removed again so we need not dwell on this.
  4. Additional citations. The page has some specific citations already. WP:V only requires citations for direct quotations and controversial facts. If specific facts seem to require citations they should be marked inline with {{cn}}. A banner tag for this is quite useless and should not be used as a badge of shame or hostile clutter
