Stone Sour

I removed the section on Stone Sour. I know that Corey Taylor is the lead singer, but it doesn't warrent a full section giving a history of the band. The Stone Sour page does a fine job of that and is where the information should be located. (Signing this comment a bit late, sorry) Warhorus 15:21, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Whoever put this section back in, please leave it out. The section had virtually nothing to do with Corey Taylor specifically. Wikipedia has a page for Stone Sour already. All that information belongs there, not on the biography page for Corey Taylor. Warhorus 15:21, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Idiocy

I removed a few tiny grammatical errors (spacing between Vocals and Guitar, "your" form, that kind of thing), and also the "Died April 2007" section of the userbox. Since it's only February, obviously he couldn't have died yet. There is also no citation of the final quote pertaining to Wikipedia at the bottom of the Trivia section. With all the random fans around Wikipedia posting "SLIPKNOT RUELZ!!!" messages, I think more people should monitor this page for vandalism. Mister Deranged 22:22, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Updated Picture.

Since Wikipedia has the adavntage of being constantly updated I think that there should be a more recent picture of Corey in the main page. If you do not know, he has cut his hair much shorter and either dyed or bleached it blond. I would do this myself, except...

Brief history about him/musical history?

Why does the article only focus on his mask, alcoholism battles, and death rumours? Why were the stuff about him actually being involved with Slipknot and Stone Sour not here (except for the very first line). I welcome you to write those sections up for the page. The problem I ran into was simple availability of information. I encourage you to enter any information on Corey Taylor you can source. Or barring that, feel free to provide some good sources that are academically trustworthy up here and I will be glad to bite the bullet and write them up myself. I just don't have the information easily at my hands from any sources I feel comfortable sourcing. Since Corey is still alive we have to be more cautious about what we post, per WP:BLP. There just aren't many biographies on Corey around that are easy to find outside of fansites, which I feel are less than credible 95% of the time. Feel free to drop me a line here or at my user page. Is Corey bald?

Yes, Corey did shave his head soon after making the video "Sillyworld" for Stone Sour. On the European tour 2007. At the London show in the Astoria he gave two reasons for why he shaved his head: 1. The above quote was what was originally posted in this section. For future reference, please do not erase other people's comments on talk pages, that's kind of a no-no. That being said, I think you missed the point about my making my comment. The point is that there is no reason to mention it at all. It is not notable. If in the future he becomes notable for his hair then it is worth mentioning. At this point in history, when the average person says Corey Taylor the average listener doesn't not think "Oh ya, that guy from Slipknot/Stone Sour with the hair."Warhorus 18:07, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

rap core

I would support the idea of mentioning his neck somewhere in the article. I have no clue how/what caused his neck to be abnormally large, but it is a definitive characteristic of Corey, and probably the first thing you'd notice when seeing him. Vocal style

At the Iowa album Corey uses brutal vocals, most people who knows about slipknot knows about this. Yet, i don't know if they should be called growls, since they are still more melodic than Cannibal Corpse( we take them as a example ) but yet screams are high vocals, and the ones corey used was low pitched. First of all, there was no consensus discussed or reached on this matter. And I am of the opinion that we should use the highest quality picture in composition and clarity for the article wether he is wearing a mask or not. Secondly, Jake Corey, the image you uploaded can not be used per fair-use rational. It is a copyrighted image and Wikipedia may only use them if you have proper use of a fair-use rational. Image uploading to Wikipedia has a lot of guidelines and I suggest you read them thoroughly and understand them clearly before uploading any more images. Sorry for the delay on the review. First, I went through the images, and checked on the three non-free ones. I'm actually not seeing a reason to keep any of them. Why is a pic of his house needed? Why are either of the two audio clips needed in his article? For bios I generally shy away from any audio clips unless they show something particularly important. Well for the house, the purpose is to show how he depicts his old house. That most likely gives a better view of what it actually looked like, compared to what he says about it. Not sure what this line means:

"Taylor first met his father on March 28, 2005, and the two have developed a strong relationship. He currently has a wife, an ex-wife, and two children. By the release of Stone Sour's Come What(ever) May, he was non-indulgent." Indulgent means yielding to the wishes of someone, and even with the previous sentence used to (hopefully) promote some type of context for this word choice, I still have no idea what "He was non-indulgent" means. Also, in most Wikipedia articles, if a person is married, divorced, has children, etc, it would read: "Taylor was married to (name) on (date). They divorced in (date). He was remarried in (date)to (name). Taylor has two children by (name); (name) and (name)." Without citing any names or sources, this seems like heresay.

Death Rumor

"I am not dead" is the quote. That is how it was printed in the paper. If he actually said "I am not dead, motherfuckers", it wasn't printed any where, and that makes it hearsay. Hearsay has no place in this article. This is a scholastic resource, not a fanpage. If you are interested in fan pages, there are plenty of them available in elsewhere on the internet. There is nothing wrong with wanting a fanpage. I, for one, think they are great resources of information. Unfortunately they are not the same thing as a scholastic resource. Mask

In a recent interview he was asked whether his masks were inspired by leatherface and he answered NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! he said his masks were in fact inspired by dead clowns!

Bassist/guitarist my a**!

what evidence is there to suggest he has ever played bass or guitar on any recordings except in stone sour where he did a minute guitar part. Josh and Jim are amazing guitarists and have no need for a third! The page in general

This page has NOTHING on his musical achievements. There is definately room for improvement. Could I suggest 2 new sections, one each for his two bands. Also in the "Battles with alcoholism" section, I think there could be some information on how his alcoholism has affected Slipknots music (performances and production) and members. As for "Meeting his father" I think there should be some refferences to what he said in his interview on Voliminal, about how much it pissed him off not knowing who he was and stuff... I also think we could add some pictures of the masks he has used for each album and the state of his S/T mask. I welcome you to add whatever you feel would improve the article, just keep in mind that anything that you add needs to be sources. Especially since Taylor is a living person (and not a fan of wikipedia), WP:BLP needs to be kept in mind. As for sections on each of his bands, they each have their own pages, so it would be redundant to repeat the information here. This is an article on Corey Taylor, not Slipknot or Stone Sour. Total revamp of the article

I have revamped the article to a considerable standard, I have been working on it for a few days in a user subpage of mine. Feel free to add to the article now, but please, make sure everything you add is backed up by reliable sources (e.g. news articles, etc). Each band member has a number from #0 to #8 in order from when they joined. They have 9 members, but the numbering only goes up to 8. (spebi · talk) 22:05, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

that's true at some level, they are in fact numbered from #0 to #8 but this is not according to when they joined, the last one to joins Slipknot was Jim and he is #4, and the first to join were Paul and Clown, #2 and #6 respectively.
