Where Does Como Park Info Go? edit

I haven't contributed to Wikipedia before, but I'd like to start. I wanted to make some additions to the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory article, but it's not clear if this article covers the whole park, or just the Zoo and Conservatory. There is a Como Park page, but it forwards to the Lake Como entry.

I would propose changing the current page to Como Park Zoo and Conservatory and let it cover all three. If necessary there could be separate, more detailed articles for just the zoo or just the conservatory or anything else within Como Park that requires more detail (some of the sculptures and locations that have a detailed history).

Speak up if you have suggestions or better ideas or what not on this.

And thanks for being kind to a newbie.

Welcome! I'd say just start adding content...I think at least for now it makes sense to treat it all in the same article. We can let others chime in about the name change but for now I'd add it all here. RxS 21:31, 24 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
I concur. -Ravedave 23:53, 24 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Me too. I went ahead and did it, with comas. Look at what links to it to see a few that should be changed (to avoid redirects). Not that many really. I'll look in a few days to see what else should link to it. Busy week.--Appraiser 00:39, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your input. I've started editing/adding and we'll see where it goes.--Khendricks 02:15, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Date Opened? edit

In the sidebar under the picture of the Conservatory is a note that says "Date Opened: 1897". That's referring to the Zoo, though it seems like it should be the date for Como Park itself. But I'm not positive what date that would be, though the land was first acquired by the city in 1873, though it may not have been publically funded until 1887 (basic history from the Como Park site: http://www.comozooconservatory.org/como_park/amenities/history.shtml). Should we change the date to something for the park as a whole, and if so what? --Khendricks 02:23, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

The template can hold more than one date. I would just list them out - 1897 (park), 1234 (Zoo) -Ravedave 02:48, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

photos provided edit

I went to the zoo and conservatory on Wednesday, so here are some free-licensed photos: Image:Como Conservatory Sunken Garden.JPG, Image:Como Conservatory Center Garden.JPG, Image:Como Conservatory Japanese Garden entrance.JPG, Image:Como Conservatory Japanese garden waterfall.JPG, Image:Como Zoo bird habitat.JPG, Image:Como Zoo's lions.JPG. It was brutally hot and the animals were generally asleep, so most of the photos are of plants. But there are two of the zoo. Sparky was no where to be found, unfortunately. St. Francis of Assisi Statue edit

In the list of art in the Conservatory, St. Francis of Assisi had been removed, apparently because the statue had been removed. Do we have any verification for that?

I called up the Como Zoo today and they informed me that wasn't the case. The statue is still there in the North Garden. I haven't been there recently myself to confirm it (as recently as July 2007 the statue was still there), but that seems fairly reliable.

Awkward title edit

What's with the unnecessary two commas in the title? Very odd and distracting. Moncrief (talk) 01:24, 25 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

The article is about three things: The park, the zoo, and the conservatory. SlowJog (talk) 15:57, 29 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Dodgy links edit

All the links to startseeingart.com go to a site in Japanese that appears to be an archive of porn stories. Whatever it is, all the links go to a not-found page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.116.59.204 (talk) 06:16, 12 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Rename edit

I think this article should be renamed to "Como Regional Park." The city of St. Paul uses this name to refer to the park as a whole[1]. The current article name (Como Park Zoo and Conservatory) is used to refer to the zoo and conservatory building within the larger Como Park ([2], not to refer to the park as a whole. 107.2.72.101 (talk) 05:04, 12 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
