Merger proposal edit

As it seems that this is a fairly marginal organization, merging the article in to Canadian social credit movement would seem to make sense. Any objections? Ground Zero | t 21:34, 11 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Not so marginal nowadays. They've been mentioned in the international press since the lawsuit.
Also their focus does not seem to be about social credit. JamesPoulson (talk) 23:18, 3 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

A former Trotskyist edit

Is this mention relevant to the organisation in itself as in saying that COMER may be inspired by Trotskyist theory?

If it is not then it is a red herring that can mislead the reader into making assumptions.

The fact that William Krehm was a former Trotskyist can be covered on a page dedicated to the individual. --JamesPoulson (talk) 23:30, 3 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, I just noticed this now. The founder and main figure's political views are highly relevant to his organization. Why would a leader be misled by reliably sourced information that he's a Trotsyite? What is misleading about that? I'm really not understanding your argument. I would think a reader would find that instructive. In any event, the Toronto Star, clearly disagrees, as Trotsky is mentioned 11 times in the article about Krehm. If you'd like to start an article on Krehm, you're welcome to do so. But until there is one, information about Krehm definitely belongs in this article. @FuriouslySerene: You have not explained why you think it is relevant.
The Toronto Star article has the title "Toronto revolutionary, 93, girds for one more battle" and is obviously about the man himself who is but one of the co-founders from what their web site says.
Is the Committee on Monetary and Economic Reform itself Trotskyist or Troskyite? Are other economic reform organizations of the same ilk? --JamesPoulson (talk) 23:24, 3 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
Its not uncommon with the hetrodox-economics-cum-conspiracy-theorist crowd. Lyndon Larouche was a former Trot too. Neither of these guys economics creeds bear much resemblance to anything the Trotskyites propose however. I suspect the connection is just that these guys went to universities as angry young men, and Trotskyites tend to be the angriest young men on campus. They grow out of it, usually. Its not clear why this would be relevant. Hell *I* was a Trotskyite, for about 3 months in the 1990s, I grew out of that one FAST. Duckmonster (talk) 13:36, 8 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
