The article is named after the pin used in a clevis fastener. So we have potentially clevis pin, clevis shackle, clevis hook, and clevis (by itself, which is the U shape piece of metal through which the pin goes). My suggestion is that we rename the article clevis, and include all of the related terms therein. That will make the article most substantial and complete. Any objections or suggestions? Based on what you just said a "clevis" is one part of the whole system, so I think renaming the article to clevis is much like what we have right now. How about we rename it to clevis fasteners, which can be all encompassing? Wizard191 (talk) 16:01, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

Clevis and tang

These are unusual words, which is why I looked to Wikipedia to understand them in relation to the Challenger disaster. Clevis is here, but tang isn't (not this usage, anyway). So far as I can gather the tang is something that fits between the two prongs of the clevis, but I'm not confident enough to put this in. Would you consider adding this use of the word "tang" to the disambiguation page for the word, and linking it to the present page?
