Too Much Details/In Need of Re-organization and New Content

edit

This article includes info that are very irrelevant to the General Public, as well as to CPAs themselves. No one really cares about the implementations across each province (it's just way too much detail that are just onerous and redundant). Not to mention that CPA has completed its implementation so technically these info are useless. All people care about now is that: "Is it merged? Yes or no?". That's it. If no disagreements are made in the next week I'll start the clean up for this page.

The focus on this page should be what a CPA does. For example: How does one become a Canadian CPA, through what training(PREP/PEP/CFE)? What are the CPA Accredited schools and what do they mean? What does LPA (Licensed Public Accountant) mean? What are the requirements of becoming a CPA (30 months of work experiences)? What are CPA Canada's mutual recognition agreements with other countries like India/New Zealand/USA/Mexico? The focus of this article should be on CPA itself, not on the technical/legal process of CA/CGA/CMA merger. If you really want to keep this, I suggest creating another article naming it as "Canadian CPA Unification". Otherwise, this content will be deleted soon.Jjj84206 (talk) 17:18, 16 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

I was wondering when someone else would finally chip in on this. It's been a pretty lonely task these past seven years. I don't mind the change.Raellerby (talk) 14:00, 23 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
The questions you also pose are quite challenging, as there was little information I could find online about them that would prove helpful without the article breaching WP:SINGLESOURCE. The number of journals dedicated to the profession have dwindled in recent years, and few articles about it even appear in what is published by the national and provincial professional bodies. Otherwise, much of what I could dig up in the regular press was basically based on CPA press releases. As WP:NPOV is fundamental to Wikipedia articles, all the best of luck in working on that.Raellerby (talk) 14:50, 23 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your input. You have a good point with WP:SINGLESOURCE and WP:NPOV. However, I think the content that should be added are quite neutral. They are generally admin processes that are straightforward and non-controversial. For example, you must finish your CFE before becoming a CPA, it's simply a fact despite most sources you find would be from CPA itself. Most media/journal you find are likely based off of CPA because CPA makes the rules, it'd be much credible depending on CPA information not others. CPA Canada itself is supported by government and its laws/regulations, in that sense, I do believe single source would not be a problem given the low complexity and lack of controversial content that we should add here.
For treaties and stuff I can probably find other CPA bodies to corroborate CPA Canada's claims. Same thing with CPA Accreditation of schools. The only problem that might occur to me would be something like, "what does a CPA do?", to which I might be able to find big 4 articles to avoid the neutrality issue. Hopefully we can make this article better! Jjj84206 (talk) 07:13, 24 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

As part of the course assignment, the passage I am looking to cite is under the Implementation in Nova Scotia header: The initial Act received Royal Assent in May 2015, with the relevant provisions relating to the use of the new designation coming into force in July 2015.Ziggy2012 (talk) 19:35, 23 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
