Conflict of interest

edit

As a former student of Mr. Banacos, I don't notice anything that disputes what I experienced or learned. In all wikidom, there's a distinction to be made between conflict of interest and bias.

I'm glad to see CB in Wikipedia. He was one of the most extraordinary, talented, caring, helpful, insightful and amusing teachers, of any subject, I've ever had. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.235.177.119 (talk) 15:24, 8 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

I've edited the article slightly and removed the conflict of interest banner, as it is no longer a major issue in my view, although it clearly was in the past when another editor put the banner there. Having said that, the article still has a tone that makes it sound rather like an advertisement for him, whether that was intentional or not. In its current state it actually does him a disservice. It's not really a biography. Where was he born? Where did he train? Who were his teachers? What about his career as performer (apart from simply listing the people he's performed with)? etc. etc. The article also has original research, attributing things to what was allegedly heard or experienced in his courses. They may well be true, but what the article needs are published, independent sources that say that. At the very minimum, some of his ideas and techniques should be attributed to his published work, complete with page number. He is mentioned in a lot of books [1] unfortunately, previews aren't available online for many of the key ones. I would suggest that anyone wanting to really improve the article further, go to a library and source the article more reliably. Voceditenore (talk) 16:38, 8 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
