Poor editing edit

This article should return to being titled Bert Locke as that was what the subject was known as not by his full name. The pic that has been added is poorly cropped and should be removed or improved. The Australian Dictionary of Biograpghy is an excellent reference what more is required? Castlemate (talk) 01:42, 3 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Sorry if my edits if I have dismayed you. The pitcure has been fixed. I maintain that the article should be called by his full name (seeWP:FULLNAME). Catmando999 Check out his talk page! 03:08, 3 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Infobox edit

Castlemate, it seems you have reverted numerous edits. Why have you removed his cause of death(heart attack) from the info box and why have you removed the caption? Catmando999 Check out his talk page! 22:34, 3 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

I do not think that {{Infobox military person}} (inserted by this edit, replacing the original {{infobox person}}) is appropriate for a person whose notability was not his military service. (The military service does not even get mentioned in the lead section.) I propose that we should use {{infobox person}}.

I concur. I suggest we change it back to {{infobox person}} as well. Catmando999 Check out his talk page! 01:36, 4 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

OBE edit

Regarding these edits: [1][2][3]

The reference listed (Canberra Times) does not tell us why he received an OBE, merely that he did. It says his name and positions:

Charles Herbert Locke, of Point Piper. Chairman of the Outward Bound Memorial Foundation. Deputy Chairman, Lend Lease Corporation.

There's nothing in the newspaper article that says or implies that the OBE was related to those positions, and it does not mention services to schools, Heart Foundation etc, which the Wikipedia article says the OBE was for.

The ADB page just says:

In 1968 Locke was appointed O.B.E.

but does not say why. (It does mention all the good things that he'd done, but does not say that's why he received the OBE. For Wikipedia to make that connection would be WP:SYN.)

Bert edit

Only only one of the online references (an informal newspaper article) mentions "Bert". None of the other more formal reference mention the short form of the name at all. Do we have a reliable reference that says he was commonly known as Bert? In the absence of such a reference, I suggest that image caption should be the full name, and we should consider dropping "Bert" from the lead sentence. Mitch Ames (talk) 13:19, 6 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

As the reference above shows, Bert was his preferred name in 1936 and used by Mrs Bert Locke as was the custom of a married woman at the time. He was known as Bert at the time of his death as shown by his death notice in the Sydney Morning Herald Ryerson Index. It might be handy if people who don't know much about a subject edit the article more carefully. Castlemate (talk) 21:23, 11 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Early Life Section edit

The "Early Life" section currently only cites one source. More Citations are necessary to support the information. Catmando999 Check out his talk page! 20:36, 6 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Don't worry, I've fixed it! Catmando999 Check out his talk page! 20:39, 6 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
