Byrne titles edit

Warning: this might be quite, quite boring... (Also, it seems my tenses have gone all sorts of skew-iff) The Byrnes present some issues:

  • Either Charles is a peer (The Lord Bryne), so Anne-Marie was The Lady Byrne and Joseph was the son of a peer (The Hon Joseph Byrne). Also, Charles' and Anne-Marie's eldest living son may have succeeded as Lord Byrne at Charles' death iff the peerage was hereditary.
    • Evidence for: they were often called "Lord Byrne" and "Lady Byrne".
    • Evidence against: I don't remember a single suggestion of Joseph being The Hon, or of someone inheriting the peerage on Charles' death.
    • nb: It's about equally likely Charles inherited his peerage (since the whole family just always seemed noble-ish) or was created a peer for life on his merits as a surgeon. Most titles for life involve one's surname, but it's not uncommon for hereditary titles.
  • Or Charles was the younger son of a Marquess/Duke (The Lord Charles Byrne), so Anne-Marie was The Lady Charles Byrne and Joseph was just Joseph Byrne. Upon Charles' death, no-one's titles change.
    • Evidence for: There were a number of occurrences on- and off-screen of "Lord Charles Byrne" and "Lady Anne-Marie Byrne".
    • Evidence against: There was mention of someone (possibly Joseph) inheriting some title or other on Charles' death. Also "Lord Byrne" and "Lady Byrne" would've been completely and utterly wrong, and "Lady Charles..." was never even hinted at.
    • nb: If Anne-Marie was herself the daughter of a peer, she may have legitimately been "Lady Anne-Marie Byrne" regardless of her husband's title(s).

Currently, they are styled inconsistently in HC articles, and the frankly awful lack of consistency in the programme's treatment of them is not mentioned at all. What would we like to do about it (if anything)? DBD 23:38, 14 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned references in Characters of Holby City edit

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Characters of Holby City's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "ReferenceA":

  • From Philippines: Ocampo, Ambeth. (1999). Rizal Without the Overcoat (Expanded ed.). Pasig City: Anvil Publishing, Inc. ISBN 971-27-0920-5.
  • From Characters of Casualty: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s18/casualty/news/a370858/casualty-casts-waterloo-road-star-alex-walkinshaw-as-new-nurse.html
  • From Rosie Marcel: Television interview on 'Loose Women' 06th June 2011
  • From The Guardian: Audit Bureau of Circulations Ltd– abc.org.uk
  • From Third World: Westernizing the Third World (Ch 2), Routledge

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 18:10, 1 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
