Tai Kwun edit

The whole complex seems to be known locally these days as Tai kwun. I imagine locals are only too happy to forget the ‘Central Booking’ colonial past of the Central Police Station, although westerners often still refer to it that way. I would be inclined to call it Tai Kwun (formerly Central Police Station) AineNiDhea (talk) 15:07, 18 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Tai Kwun does not refer only to the Central Police Station, but also the old prison and magistracy. I think it's better to leave the name the way it is and add a note that it is now part of the Tai Kwun complex. My own impression the general feeling towards our colonial history is that there are a small number of people who are highly opinionated, but that most are fairly neutral on the subject (in fact, if the frequent articles in the newspaper about removing post boxes and renaming streets is anything to go by, the public may be more in favour of keeping the old names than you suspect, but it's not possible to say for sure without actually asking them). In the absence of actual evidence of public sentiment, I would suggest not leaping to conclusions. Kdm852 (talk) 05:20, 19 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
