Re:- Dillon

It may be assumed by some fans that he died, but his death was neither shown onscreen or mentioned by other characters. The last we saw/heard of him was him lying in resus, but there was no confirmation of his death; so I'm not sure he should be listed under deaths. --John24601 22:16, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

  • He isn't listed as dead, he's listed as a former cast member. (StudentSteve 11:08, 3 February 2006 (UTC))
He is now, somebody removed him from the dead list after I posted that comment ;-) --John24601 13:06, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

Re-organise the page

Just though I'd float the idea - since this page is getting huge, do you think there's a case for splitting it up - perhaps moving the episodes out to another page in the style of List of The Simpsons episodes? --Mortice 17:26, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Neutrality of Theme Music and Opening Credits Sections

The sections do not have a neutral point of view - they seem to be written giving opinions on the quality of the credits/music compared to the others. Dannyboy3 19:13, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Are the theme music and opening credits considered in someway groundbreaking? Why are they given so much space? Especially copared to details of the actual content of the show. 149.244.249.1 11:36, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Ruth Winters

Hi

I posted an addition to the list of deaths of staff on Casualty column. I wrote that Ruth Winters commited suicide by hanging herself. My addition has been taken off. I think the reason for it being taken off is because Ruth's death has not occurred in the series yet. However, it has been comfirmed that she will hang herself on Feb 2 2008. I am going to restore it, but I'm putting this topic up for debate just to show that I'm not vandalising the page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by George.millman (talkcontribs) 09:09, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

As I said in my edit summary both times I removed the addition, it doesn't belong on the character deaths list not only because it hasn't happened yet, but because the character doesn't die! Georgia Taylor recently extended her contract a further 18 months - she's not going anywhere. Frickative (talk) 10:02, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

I'm sorry, that must have been my mistake. I did read on holby.tv that she hangs herself, but maybe she survives, I don't know. I'll just have to wait and see! Sorry about that! George

Infobox Thing

Dunno what it's called, it's the 'Holby' box at the bottom of the article that links to Holby related articles. I was just wondering why it says 'episodes' when it should be 'series'...if that makes sense. Like when you click 'episode' 22 of Casualty, it takes you to series 22. Does that make any sense?! :P londonsista | Prod 21:38, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks to whoever clarified the box! londonsista | Prod 05:13, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

List of deaths

Max Gallagher’s son was a minor character, but he probably appeared more often than the female police officer who died - so should he not be included in the list of character deaths? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.107.92.82 (talk) 15:20, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

ED/A&E

The amount of times I come here commenting makes me look like a stalker but anyway....intro was changed to say 'Accident and Emergency Department' or something to that effect, but later on in the article it states: The drama concerns a group of doctors, nurses and administrators who work in the Accident & Emergency department (since Series 18 termed the Emergency Department (ED)). And as far as I know to this day they still call it ED rather than A&E. So I just thought I'd point that out... :)londonsista | Prod 18:46, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Howdy! Yeah I changed the term, the term 'Emergency Department' sounds like an American term... I did notice the other mention to 'ED' during the latter parts of the article. I did see an image on the official website with the words 'ED', so it may be that they refer to it as 'ED' in the actual show... The reason I thought it needed changing was that the common British term for the department is A&E (in previous years, 'Casualty') rather than the American 'Emergency Department'. But open to other opinions! BNC85 (talk) 21:13, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, it is a kinda Americanised term! I guess I'm so used to hearing it referred to as ED in the show, tbh I don't see any real harm in refering to it as A&E (because, as you said, it's a more common British term), I was probably just nit-picking as usual! londonsista | Prod 00:13, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

The terming of Accident and Emergency departments as "ED" is becoming more common in the UK, most of the hospitals I go to the A&E is referred to by the staff as the ED.Gbarnes 5 (talk) 18:36, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

I've never seen the show, nor do I know anything about the health care industry in the UK. In the U.S., the term Emergency Department is rare, usually it's referred to as the Emergency Room, hence "ER" (even though in many hospitals it generally consists of more than one room). This doesn't parallel with the terms used in other parts of the hospital, but there are few standards: Pediatrics Department, but Pediatrics Intensive Care Unit, Maternity or OB/Gyn Ward, etc. are all common terms. Just some triva... 69.95.235.168 (talk) 21:50, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
The terms 'Emergency Room' and 'ER' are never used over here. Internally, hospitals might use ED but I would say "I got taken to casualty" or "I got taken to A&E".ChimpanzeeUK (talk) 10:12, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Casualty 1907

I'd argue that it's not "totally unrelated bar a similar title"; it's unrelated bar a similar premise and setting (the casualty ward of a hospital) and the same title, which was chosen deliberately by the BBC as a reference to their pre-existing successful hospital show. Maybe that isn't enough make it worth detailing here, but is it enough to make it worth mentioning? (Maybe someone who actually watched it could give it its own article, and their could be a brief mention linking to that?) Daibhid C (talk) 21:11, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

I removed the mention from the article based upon the content of the section - it had its own subheading but was just a two line stub, and even said the two shows were 'unrelated'. If there's been any coverage in the media which mentions the fact that the BBC deliberately gave it the 'Casualty 1907' title to capitalize on Casualty's success, then we could definitely mention that, as long as it can be sourced and verified. Frickative (talk) 21:35, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
There we go, re-included with a couple of relevant citations from the Times and Guardian. Frickative (talk) 23:04, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

I'd argue that Casualty 1907 should have it's own page since it is treated as a standalone series.--86.22.157.47 (talk) 21:06, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Be bold. Start one. All this article does is provide a very brief treatment of its relationship to Casualty, not serve as a replacement for a Casualty 1907 article. Frickative (talk) 21:50, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

I've don't think they are related so I made new pages see Casualty 1907 but they could do with a bit of revamping Jamesplummett (talk) 20:52, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Keiron Fletcher and Matt Strong

Are we sure these characters are to be regulars? Despite both being introduced in episode 24x26, neither has been added to the opening titles, which in the past has indicated who is considered a regular. Additionally, in the closing credits, Matt Strong was listed below Louis Fairhead, who is definitely recurring rather than a regular. (The traditional pattern for Casualty's closing credits is regulars, then recurring, then one-off guests.) Could it be worth holding off on adding them to the list for the time being? User:Whiggles1 (talk) 10:41, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

They're not on the official characters list and there is nothing on holby.tv about those actors joining the series, so I don't think they are meant to be regulars. However, we know they will appear in the next few episodes, so I recommend moving them to 'Recurring Characters' for the time being. George.millman (talk) 17:41, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
The BBC featurette makes it sound as though Coulthard at least has already finished working on the series, judging from the way he talks about filming in the past tense. I'd support moving them to Recurring until there's anything to suggest otherwise. Frickative 17:59, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
OK, I've moved them into Recurring for the time being. User:Whiggles1 (talk) 10:00, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

Should Shona also be put into recurring characters? (I tried to do it myself, but I couldn't work it out - it's so complicated!) By the way, Shona's surname is Wark and she's played by Evelyn Hoskins. George.millman (talk) 18:16, 23 February 2010 (UTC)

Short plot summaries

I am curious to know why certain editors have the urge to post a brief and often unsatisfactory "Short plot summary" a couple of weeks before transmission.
Am I alone in preferring it to be done as a complete summary on the actual day? We have another example posted just 29 minutes ago –

"Titles and theme music"

Is there any point in having this section in the article? It is completely unsourced. If anyone can find any accurate sources for the titles and theme music section (as I can't) can we add them as soon as possible? Same for the closing credits; otherwise we may as well erase that section and replace it with something else.

Also, should we follow Holby City's main page layout considering that has a GA status. 86.145.166.185 (talk) 17:36, 22 February 2016 (UTC)

I'd be quite happy to see the back of it - it doesn't really add anything to the main body of the article. Skarloey (talk) 21:31, 23 February 2016 (UTC)
Glad to hear someone agrees with me, Skarloey. I was thinking, should we add a ratings section like in Holby City's main article? As a replacement for the 'Titles and theme music' section. 86.145.166.185 (talk) 17:05, 24 February 2016 (UTC)

Updated sandox version for Casualty's Main Article

I have been working for nearly a month now in my Sandbox on recreating Casualty's main article. My aim was to expand the article overall, add some new sections, thoroughly reference all gathered information and create an overall comprehensive article. I'm also trying to get the main article for Casualty updated to a Good Article status.

I was wondering, if anyone had a chance, to look at my sandbox and review the updated sandboxed main article page. Please do be aware that there have not been any photos added to the article, however if this was to be copied and pasted onto the main article, images would follow. I have no intention to publish this article, but I wanted to improve the Casualty article and I did this in my sandbox. Feedback would also be greatly appreciated, and thank you in advance to anyone who sees my sandbox creation. ElectrodeandtheAnode (talk) 08:55, 6 April 2016 (UTC)

Proposal - List of Casualty Episodes

I would like to propose the following:

On the article connected this, List of ''Casualty'' Episodes, I would like to propose it be split into two parts, with the first part covering Series 1 - 20, and the second part covering Series 21 - 31 (present series in August this year). My reason for this proposal is that the article's Template Limit is being exceeded and tables from the relevant Series articles beyond 27, are not being displayed. This issue also impacts the Episode table listing the specials and the crossover list of episodes between this show and Holby City, as well as preventing the reference list and the collapsible list connected to shows using the setting of the fictional city of Holby. This suggestion comes from another user, after I put in a message on Wikipedia:Editor assistance/Requests about the issue.

I would like to draw some consensus on this proposal as soon as possible, so please take time to read this and visit the article in question to examine the issue.GUtt01 (talk) 10:37, 1 August 2016 (UTC)

Charlie Fairhead

Just wondered if it was still accurate to state him as being the Nursing Manager when he resigned a few episodes ago? I think it may be useful to say Tess Bateman is (Acting) Nursing Manager and have a brief mention of Charlie's whereabouts. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Londonsista (talkcontribs) 01:48, 9 January 2008 (UTC) Tess has been nursing mananger since series 18 episode 40 in 2004 when charlie took his first of two major breaks from the show since then he's still is charge nurse/nurse practitioner but not nurse manager

Reflective Theme

Is this section necessary, considering there is a whole host of incidental pieces now included in the pre-credits sequence, and even during episodes? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.8.86.54 (talk) 23:13, 25 August 2017 (UTC)

Please do not put that template on talk pages as it causes them to show up in the Category:All articles with bare URLs for citations. Also note that the refs have been filled. MarnetteD|Talk 18:45, 30 September 2018 (UTC)
