Talk:Castlejordan, County Meath

Title edit

Per WP:NCDAB, we typically use a comma-separated disambiguation (in the title) for geographical subjects. Parenthetical disambiguation is typically used for other types of subjects. In short, if we think we need to disambiguate the village from the civil parish, then the title of this article should likely be Castlejordan (village). Otherwise it should likely be moved to Castlejordan, County Meath (which, I note, is already a redirect anyway). Castlejordan (County Meath) is otherwise a non-standard title convention. Any reason to retain it? Guliolopez (talk) 18:19, 8 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

(update) I note with some interest that this article was actually created at Castlejordan, County Meath (To my mind the correct title). But was then moved to its current title of Castlejordan (County Meath). With a note that this (the "brackets") was what MOS would expect. In all honesty I don't understand that interpretation of MOS and convention. As above, my understanding of MOS and WP:NCDAB is that we use a comma-based DAB for geographical subjects. Not brackets. And I note that every other article in Category:Towns and villages in County Meath (where DAB is required) uses the "[SameNameAsOtherPlace], County Meath" convention. I must be missing something though, as someone clearly felt that wasn't correct in this case.... Guliolopez (talk) 18:33, 8 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hi. I've been WP:BOLD and moved the title back. Because (1) WP:NCDAB suggests that we don't use brackets (parens) for geographical titles, and use a comma-separated device instead. And (2) using "(County Meath)" in brackets doesn't solve the problem anyway. As there are still two subjects of this name in County Meath. The village and the civil parish. Happy to discuss, but I don't see why we made this change. Guliolopez (talk) 21:41, 8 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
