Uh, it says "it's sometimes referred to as the Mohamed Ali Citadel, because it contains the mosque of Mohamed Ali, which was built amost 7 centuries later." Seven centuries later than what? It never says when it was originally built, and therefore it's baffling to consider what the "7 centuries later" could be referring to. Hmmmmm382 01:22, 17 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Revisions (history mostly) edit

I've just expanded the history section significantly. I have done so with the intention of preserving the existing content and adding to it. Some further editing will surely be needed to refine it. Among other concerns, much of the new text may dwell too long on describing former structures within the Citadel (many of which are historically important, however); I'm open to the idea that new sections could be made for these buildings (not to mention new pages).

It's also heavy on architectural history in general; it could use some more information on major events. Also, some information about what the site of the Citadel is currently used for (tourism, culture, military) might be helpful. Cheers, Casual Builder (talk) 11:05, 1 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thanks alot, just incredible! JahlilMA (talk) 12:18, 1 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Further note, in case it elicits discussion: I'm removing the "Gallery" section but moving some of the images from it to the main text in spots where they might be relevant. Removing galleries has been contentious elsewhere, but my interpretation of the wikipedia guidelines is that image galleries aren't very desirable unless they're adding some kind of information that helps people learn more about the topic (through visual means). Illustrating different areas of the Citadel, for example, would be good, but there's already some of that in the main body of the page. I hope this makes the page cleaner but also open to being wrong! Casual Builder (talk) 22:57, 2 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
