Issues regarding Byron Castillo's birth place and his legal status edit
FIFA has opened the investigation again on 15 September, which the first hearing was done and decisive. But until the final judgement in October, we must keep Byron Castillo's profile in line with the Ecuadorian issue. If FIFA agrees with the Chilean appeal that he is an alien from Colombia, we can be allowed to fix his name and birthplace. HiddenFace101 (talk) 18:51, 15 September 2022 (UTC)
Investigation edit
Are there any sources that aren't copies of the cite from the Daily Mail? Because the DM is not usable for controversial BLP claims, and this looks very like that - DM plus copies of the DM is not usable on a BLP and would need removing. The details from the DM shouldn't be in, only the stuff from the RSes that weren't sourcing directly from the DM - David Gerard (talk) 21:20, 1 October 2022 (UTC)

should we fix his birthdate and birthplace now? edit
On 8 November 2022, the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled that Castillo was indeed born in Tumaco on 25 June 1995, but since the nationality of a player is defined by national law and Ecuador recognizes Castillo as an Ecuadorian national, he has been eligible to play for the national team of Ecuador. The FEF were however, fined CHF 100,000 and handed a 3-point deduction in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers for CONMEBOL due to the use of a document which contained false information.
