While it is true that some names were derived from physical characteristics, e.g. byram = cow sheds, but not in this case (although it is a popular idea). De Buron ("of Buron") was the name of the patriarch who came from Buron, France with William the Conqueror--who gave lands to his knights. 13th century "De Byram" was a nordic transformation of De Buron (As was "De Byron") 136.53.51.199 (talk) 18:16, 18 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
