Hi, I would love to contribute to this page. I am first hand familiar from copies of documents with the controversy surrounding this organization. I would love to contribute and upload the documents I have in support of what I am writing. The scandal surrounding "Gergana" is huge and there is no way to hide it since a lot of people have read the documents and they are part of official records of institutions both in USA and Bulgaria. I wanted to say to the people that repeatedly delete my edits that their behavior starts to look like edit warring. Such behavior is not allowed on Wikipedia as far as I know. Most of the statements in this article are false. I would love to see documents (not obscure newspaper articles) that support the statements. I don't understand why are my posts deleted? My desire to help make the article better is sincere.

Generally, for an edit to stick, you need to have significant (more than a directory listing or a paragraph or two) coverage in independent (so, no one making the accusations or the Children's Chorus had a hand in making the source), and reliable (misinformation is reasonably low, there's editorial oversight, etc.) sources. Hi, Dream of Horses, The people who created the article are a side in the controversy I am trying to inform the public about. Last summer a whistle blower uncovered falsified documents and other abuses by the current leadership. The facts are that, board members, teachers and 20 out of 25 families left the organization in disgust and pulled out their kids. There are still investigations going on. The split is a fact that the Bulgarian community in New York is familiar with. I have copies of documents I can upload to Wikipedia. In addition the names of all the people that have worked during the years there are deleted from the article and most of the statements are not true. The thing is somebody is policing the article and deleting my edit every time I try to add a word. I think there should be information about the controversy surrounding this organization in the article. I would gladly provide it and edit. Controversy

Bold text In fact, the existence of "Gergana" in the affluent Upper East Side neighborhood is not free. It is funded by the much less affluent Bulgarian taxpayer in a system that lacks "checks and balances" mechanisms. This controversy is widely perceived as unacceptable by the members of the Bulgarian community. In 2012, a widespread scandal shook "Gergana" and the whole Bulgarian community in New York for months. It involved uncovering of falsified documents and allegations of conflict of interests, self dealing and disregard for the non profit laws by the leadership. On September 8th, 2012, the majority of the member families chose to distance themselves from the action of the self proclaimed and self compensating leadership that included the Hadjiyski husband and wife, Ivanchev and Evstatieva among others. On September, 8th, 2012, those families left "Gergana" for good and with the support of the Bulgarian Consulate General and many prominent figures from the Bulgarian expatriate community, founded a new organization called "Young Bulgarian Voices New York". Those who left "Gergana" included the founding families, board members and teachers. A large number of the families who had volunteered their work during the years to establish a true community organization but were repelled by the actions of "Gergana" leadership, came back on board of the new organization. "Young Bulgarian Voices New York" brought back to life the ideas and principles upon which the chorus and school were founded initially for the benefit of all the families in love with the Bulgarian culture and heritage.

Dispute between Star Gazer 13 and IP

I would like to contribute to this article but my edits get entirely deleted minutes after I publish them. This article as created by 74.66.235.121 contains untrue statements and lacks independent sources. The author is most likely paid employee of the organization and the article contains misleading information. This organization has serious problems as you can see from my version and they are trying to solve them by using Wikipedia for propaganda and for intentional misleading of the general public. They are trying to hide those problems. 74.66.235.121 should stop deleting my edits which are by the way supported by independent sources. Such a behavior would resolve nothing. The problems with this organizations are well documented, they are part of the history of the organization and should be part of the Wikipedia article. This is not an advertisement website for the leadership of the organization. The facts in the article of 74.66.235.121 are not corresponding to the the true events. Attempted outing and attempted personal attacks are no good reason to revert editor's work. You are engaging in editor warring. My facts are well documented in the article of the investigating journalist Yasen Darakov who followed the controversy thoroughly. Mr. Darakov obviously has taken into account both sides' positions as well as documents and third party accounts and published the result in the largest weekly newspaper of the Bulgarian community in the USA. The controversy which you are very determined not to allow the general public to know about is an established fact along with the reasons behind it. This is an encyclopedia and only the facts matter even though these facts might not be pleasant to everybody. There should be no article in this encyclopedia without mentioning the controversy and the split of the organization. On September 8th, 2012 (after several months of attempted negotiations on the side of the member families) almost all the member families, teachers, and many board members (including the whistle blower that discovered the falsified documents) left the self proclaimed and self serving leadership because they were truly abhorred by their actions. This is pretty major an event to be left out of the history of the organization.

There has been no "controversy" in Gergana but the one provoked by "Star Gazer" who made false allegations to that effect in July-October 2012. The allegations have been since thoroughly investigated by the Gergana board and independently by the Bulgarian Consulate General in New York on behalfr of the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science and have been found unsubstantiated and malicious; in May 2013, the the Gergana school principal received a lifetime contribution award from the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science. --74.66.235.121 (talk) 11:37, 19 August 2013 (UTC)

74.66.235.121, are you trying to say that the journalist Yasen Darakov and the newspaper has made the story about the controversy up? On the picture in the article we can see many children and their families have left the organization -it is apparent that it wasn't about one person making false allegations. How are you explaining the split of the organization?

The source is not related to the award in any way - it is not mentioned in the article. All the information in this article is provided by Hadjyiska herself. It is an interview with her. According to the Wikipedia standards it is unacceptable.

Star Gazer is a new editor who obviously entered Wikipedia in bad faith with the single purpose to publish defamatory statements regarding Gergana, including disputing long established facts and accusing Gergana officers in wrongdoings they have not done. Star Gazer repeatedly posted personal attacks against living persons. Wikipedia policies are clear: content shall be written in a neutral tone, no defamation shall be allowed, unsourced contentious statements about living persons shall be deleted without discussion. Gergana is a nine-year old organization with its standing in the Bulgarian-American community and its achievements. For the last school year, Gergana has performed 10 concerts in the New York area, 2 performances of a musical in Bulgarian, and received three awards (two of them personal, for the school principal). As far as I understand, Star Gazer claims she can read in Bulgarian. In that case, please read the link I already provided below, p. 10. It says that Ms. Neli Hadjiyska, School Principal of Bulgarian Children's Chorus and School Gergana, New York, USA, received the Neofit Rilski honorary award from MON (the Bulgarian Ministry of Education) for 2013. Dear 71.249.192.199, your link on the main page of the article is malfunctioning - it does not lead to any documents containing pages. You should also stop the personal attacks. Given the track of the school regarding creation of documents that serve their needs it is only natural to be cautious. Also stop deleting my edits and start discussing. The controversy is a well sourced fact and should be in the article. The school is not founded by Hadjyiska either. She was just a parent among other parents there. It is really ugly to take credit for other people work. The community of parents initiated the school not a private person. I see a slight improvement in the outright denial of the simplest facts regarding the Bulgarian Children’s Chorus and School Gergana in New York by Star Gazer. I would like to confirm once more the truth regarding the Neofit Rilski award with her/him with one simple question: did the principal of The Bulgarian Children’s Chorus and School Gergana receive the Neofit Rilski award for 2013 form MON (the Ministry of Education) or not? The answer must be “yes” or “no”. After I get that answer from Star Gazer I shall continue with other simple facts from Gergana’s history. I would like to see that Star Gazer does have a good faith and does not post lies and personal attacks in this article. I’m fed up with vandalism in that article for the last few weeks and with contentious statements about living persons.

I suspect you have a COI and should disclose your connections to the leadership, to Neli and Valentin Hadjyski who you are promoting in this article. Are you on a payroll or otherwise paid by the organization "Gergana"? Do you benefit in any way from the promotion of this organization? The answer must be yes or no. This article reads like a promotion of the Hadjiyski family not an article about the community organization. The husband - Valentin goes around different community venues and presents himself as the leader of the Bulgarian community. I guess that will be the next step, they proclaimed the wife to be the founder of the school, next is the whole Bulgarian community and next may be the ... Moon. Sad. But not only - destructive too. I have removed the statement that Neli Hadjyska has founded the school. There is no source that confirms that. The school is a parent initiative as evident from the parent statement in the article by Darakov. Hadjiyska is taking credit for many people work among them Yana Kalinkova who the parents invited as the first teacher and who Hadjyska started helping only as a volunteer parent. Yana is an important figure in the creation of this organization and if any names are mentioned - hers should be there. Why is Yana Kalinkova name omitted? Because the article is biased, it is written with self interest in mind. I believe the author and 71.249.192.199, Bulgarian Children's Chorus and School Gergana, 74.66.235.121 and Skylark2 are the same person and this person is most likely on a payroll or otherwise receives money from "Gergana", I suspect he/she writes about him/herself and related people in the article and has a COI that he/she is obligated to disclose before writing anything about "Gergana", he/she was supposed to do that in the beginning.

Last edits by user 208.54.45.141 were a significant improvement of the History section with the added new reference, YouTube footage from a TV interview (in Bulgarian) with Gergana co-founder, opera star Stefka Evstatieva in January 2011, where she recalls Gergana's origins. The "Oblache Le Byalo" show was hosted by journalist Raina Mandzhukova, formerly Director of the State Agency for Bulgarians Abroad, knowledgeable of the matter. In the cited "Oblache Le Byalo" TV show, Gergana Velinova, the founder Gergana Chorus, also says over the phone (in 24:34 min from beginning) "we, with Stefka and Neli Hadjiyska who in fact later headed the school..." (the host pronounces the word 'headed' simultaneously with her; as former Director of the State Agency for Bulgarians Abroad she obviously knows that fact). One more impottant detail: Gergana has never practiced "election of teachers by parents" (as Star Gazer claimed) and this rule has been enshrined in its incorporation papers and guidelines, also available online. Parents are a very important part of the Gergana community; the Parents' Council, a body under Bulgarian Government Directive 334/2011, consults the Executive; parents sit on the Board of Directors, as seen from the Gergana web site. The source deleted by Star Gazer 13 - obvious act of vandalism - says what Pavlina Dokovsla and Neli Hadjiyska did for the organization. The founder Gergana says that Neli "headed" the school, for example. The source is interview with founder of the Chorus Gergana Velinova and co-founder Stefka Evstatieva. They talk in details about organization's history. That couldn't be false, on the contrary, it's a excellent source of information. They talk about few people who made the Bulgarian Children's Chours and School Gergana possible in 2004-2005: Ms. Pavina Dokovska, the Consule General of Bulgaria in New York, Neli Hadjiyska among them. Not so. Star Gazer did not delete sources from the list. There is no vandalism. The sources do not support the statement who founded the school and therefore that false statement was corrected. Dokovska did nothing for the organization, she never even showed up. For 8 years. The founding remember and those who worked there for many years remember clearly. The fact that the school of parent initiative is sourced in the Bg Voice article. Hadjyiska was just a volunteer parent like anybody else. The first teacher the parent invited was Yana Kalinkova because she actually had experience teaching and she is a former school principal as opposed to Hadjyiska who is a tourist agent by profession. I put back the source with Ms. Evstatieva interview where she and Ms. Velinova talk about all the help and assistance of pianist and piano teacher Pavlina Dokovska for the organization. Who knows better about that fact? The fonder of the Chorus Ms. Velinova and the co-founder Ms. Evstatieva, of course. I insist that deleting that information is vandalism. I'm going to reported it accordingly. I'm going to report as well obvious conflict of interest (COI) in the editing work of Star Gazer 13. She/He couldn't keep neutral point of view, she/he has a problems to accept simple facts from the history of Gergana organization and she/he is very passion in he/his dislike of all the founders of the organization. Ms. Evstatieva interview is a very confused account of her feelings of love for her girlfriends Hadjyska and Dokovska but has nothing to do with the history of that organization. It is impossible to extract information from the blabber in this conversation, the sentences start somewhere then take sudden turns and end up in a completely illogical place. Evstatieva has always been just a "decoration" in this organization. She is an elderly lady whose incoherent "memories" puzzle even the interviewing lady who is visibly concerned. Evstatieva receives a full teacher salary from Hadjiyska for just showing up at the chorus rehearsals and "warming" up the kids voices for 3 minutes. It is sad to watch how she is taken advantage of. Bottom line: She is not a reliable source. She does not mention Hadjyska ever founded the school. The role of the other girlfriend Dokovska in the organization is non existent. She has never showed up for 8 years and has done exactly nothing. All this is a calculated hoax put together by current leadership in order to justify their taking over the organization last year through the use of falsification and manipulation of people to whom Hadjiyska was paying salaries. The organization was left last year by 90 % percent of its members so the leadership got nothing but the legal name. Now they are trying to "change" the history by putting together this Wikipedia article. It is not going to work - the whole community knows what they did. Not so. There is no vandalism. I have only added important illustrations to the article: 1. A concert program form March 2006 showing clearly Hadjyiska was not a founder or a principal - just a second teacher and a parent of a student in a community cooperative. 2. Official declaration and a proclamation of the 25 families that have left "Gergana" on September, 8th, 2012 explaining their motives. These are official documents from "Gergana" archive and they clarify the events form last year very well.
