Top importance edit

This is one of the finest buildings of its type in the world. Amandajm (talk) 13:53, 10 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

It is a fine building indeed but, with all respect to it, I see it described elsewhere as 'one of the finest civic buildings in Belgium'. There is nothing in the article to say it is one of the finest buildings in the world and, if there was, it would need to be cited to an authoritative source. 'High importance' includes 'very important buildings', which seems to be a fair assessment of the Town Hall. Sionk (talk) 00:12, 1 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Town Hall or City Hall edit

In English, both "City Hall" and "Town Hall" occur, in general. As not all municipalities obtained city rights, there are lots of Town Halls for which the term City Hall would be inappropriate. But, at least in the former Low Countries, calling a city a "town" sounds pejorative, an insult. I would advise to link as [[Town Hall|City Hall]] for all cities where people might be sensitive, which should be assumed if their language uses a term that includes 'stad', 'ville' (=city) - for the German Rathaus, one might have to check whether 'stadt' is used for its municipality. For the article at hand, I suggest the name 'Brussels City Hall'; a move would create a redirect anyway.

City hall sounds better to me. I thought we had it here to not offend British sensibilities or something. But yeah, let's move it. Oreo Priest talk 19:39, 1 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
