Cost of introduction edit

This article does not address the cost of alterations to the Ryde Tunnel required for the introduction of these trains. These 'new' trains are 11 feet 11 inches (3.63 m) high. However: the Ryde tunnel is only 11 feet 1 inch (3.38 m) high. 86.164.61.113 (talk) 18:06, 10 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Can you supply any source that specifically discusses the need to alter Ryde Tunnel? While logic suggests the track will have to be lowered to its pre-1967 level, we could do with referencing a reliable source that states this (or anything else about alterations to the tunnel) in order to state this either in this article, at Island Line, Isle of Wight or anywhere else. The only sources that seem to be readily available talk about the tests with a Class 503 profile in the 1960s - these may well pre-date the track being raised but without access to a relevant source it is impossible to tell. The article does mention the £26m total cost of improvements, though it would be great if these could be broken down. I should also add that in the Minister's announcement in September 2019 he did talk about an extra £25m from Network Rail, apparently for Ryde Pier - however other sources quote this as only £5m so I'm not sure what is correct there. --Peeky44 What's on your mind? 16:12, 5 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
